Greetings all.

After using the search function I decided to start a new thread. If for some reason I missed an already existing thread, I surely do apologize.

As a former active duty Marine, I just purchased my first personal firearm ( you can read my member introduction here - http://glock.pro/showthread.php/1721...Time-Gun-Owner - if you'd like) and wanted to know if there was any procedure for assuring that my weapon will take a liking to just about any ammo that I might have to feed it.

My Glock 19 is a gen 4, and it came with the newer 04 recoil spring. I have put about 250 rounds with no problems whatsoever. I have been running Winchester White Box (200 rnds) and 40 rnds of Federal Hydra-Shok 124gr.

I guess what I am asking is if running as many different types of ammunition for the first thousand rounds or so would likely improve the weapons ability to fire any kind of ammo I might feed it. While I will be keeping a decent amount of ammo on hand, if a situation occurred where there was no Rule of Law (katrina, for example) and I had to use only whatever it was that I could find, I want to make sure that I did everything possible to ensure my weapon will perform reliably.

After all, that's why I purchased a Glock !

I have have fired just about everything through all of my glocks without one single problem. Maybe I've just been lucky but I am talking thousands of rounds collectively without one single problem. And that's from hot loads to the cheapest stuff I could find.

Are any of those glocks a gen4 G19 with the 04 recoil spring? At any rate, did you diversify your ammo from the getgo, or stick with specific ammo first and after a while started shooting various ones?

it makes no difference what you run through a new gun.

the only reason some suggest fmj at first, rather than jhp ammo, is that if there's a malfunction it's easier to attribute it to the gun rather than the ammo.
