    Problem with S&B Ammunition (pics)


    I found this while I was checking some .45acp hardball from Sellier & Bellot. I've been using this ammunition for a lot of years. This particular round was obviously ripped open during S&B's loading process. It was empty except for a chunk of brass that fell out.

    I contacted S&B twice and they have failed to reply. Don't take chances- check your ammo before use. This round would have ended up as a squib if I had fired it. If I fired a second round, the gun would have been ruined and an injury could have occurred.

    I'm disappointed that S&B hasn't replied.

    Whoa. Good catch there. That def would not have been a good situation. I always check my ammo before shooting.

    wow...good catch. Thats SB is supposed to be top notch. Ive never seen that from any ammo in my whole life.

    I shot some S&B .380 in my wife's Bersa Thunder CC pistol, every other round failed to fire or move the slide back. I just had 1 box of 50, never again will I buy S&B ammo in any caliber. I don't think it was an issue with the gun, 3 different brands, Independence, CCI and 1 more I forget, fired just fine.

    good thing you caught that! i've been using s&b for almost 20 years and never had an issue, but a crapper sneeks through everyone's line now and then. i had a box of blazer brass with a loose bullet sitting there with no shell.


    the only ammo i've consistently had numerous issues with is remington UMC. i won't use this stuff anymore.

    Wow, thats surprising. I have never heard or seen issues with any S&B ammo before. But I guess theres a first time for everything. When I first saw that pic, I thought that maybe the bottom edge of the feed ramp had shaved the case. Good thing you caught it though, otherwise you coulda been picking star dust outta your a$$.

    I've shot close to 500 rounds of S&B in my .380 caliber TCP. I've never had an ftf with them. I guess every gun is different. My TCP hates Speer Lawman fmj. It jambs on every other round. That makes for a bad range session. As to the OP...I though everybody checked their ammo before firing it. Maybe that's just not 100% true after all. I do it because my life depends on it. I need it to go BANG and not KA-BOOM!!!
