Is your point of impact the same with 135gr as it is with 115 or 124?

To answer my own question . . . I took 124gr, 135gr and 147gr to the range tonight with a Gen1 17 and a Gen3 17c. At 10yds there was no measurable difference in the POA/POI. At 25yds unsupported the groupings were so close that any difference due to ammo, rather than shooter, was also not detectable.

"Felt" recoil was about the same. Shooting strings though brought out a noticeable difference with the 147gr. Muzzle flip was slightly less resulting in quicker return to target. I found this slight physical difference made a mental difference - I felt more relaxed through the 147gr strings.

Back to the 135gr though. I did not find a meaningful difference between it and the 124gr - either in POI or in recoil - even though the drop in fps (~80fps) was the same as the drop in fps from 135 to 147gr. The difference between 135gr and 147gr was far more noticeable than any difference between 124gr and 135gr.

So the conclusion is I will pass on 135gr in the future.
