I see FreedomMunitions has started offering it, I would assume others are as well. I'm wondering if it's POI is different from 115/124 like the 148gr?

I stick with 124 gr, JHP or FMJ, my weapon cycles the same every time, POA/POI is consistent. 124 is also NATO weight, FWIW.

Its only 10gns heavier, I cant see where it would be a "benifit" over 124...

One benefit given same energy levels and expansion rate and total expansion, is better penetration. When diameter stays the same and weight increases the projectile gets longer and sectional density gets bigger. Even at the same energy level the higher sectional density projectile will penetrate more. So if the 124 and 135 expand exactly the same and impart the same energy the higher sectional density projectile will penetrate more.

Not a bad characteristic at all.

Thanks guys, I do appreciate the insight but you haven't cured my curiosity. Inquiring minds want to know!

I probably don't need to buy ammo for another month+ hoping someone can cure my curiosity before then. Otherwise, I'll have to find out for myself. ;-)

OK,I'll try to be as helpful as I can. When you go to heavier weight(or lighter) bullets it changes your point of impact, this you already know. There is a tested(proven)weight for the 9m/m and the Germans did the most research and 124gr. became the standard. All other weights are based off the results of these tests. There are some pistols that shoot better with lighter/heavier bullets, but this is the Glock forum and we are only looking at Glock.I do not buy any other weight,I buy on line by the case(1000 rds.) and I do not know if changing brand or weight will save me money.I think I have a "comfort" level with what I shoot and I just cannot change.I hope this rambling post helps,if not,I tried.

I shoot 124 in my G17.4 for competitions, they are insanely accurate (I hand load so I cannot suggest a box ammo, I run RMR bullets and push them at 1050fps)

What a horrible thing to read so early in the morning. :(

Yes but I was using them in a 40 S&W. light load for steel matches. Haven't tried them in a 9mm yet

I normally buy their 124gr. Reman FMJ, but there were a couple of times I bought the 135gr. reman HP's when they were out of 124gr. FMJ and HP's. I've shot a case of it so far without issue. It seems to more consistently knock down the poppers in matches.

Thanks Appalachianed and JB for saving this thread!

Rather than compare to 115\124, any idea how far the POI is off POA on factory sights?

My Dawson's are sized to bring the POI with 124gr lower than with factory sights (I put the front sight in the center of the bull rather than just below). So a little upward shift wouldn't require a change of sights for me but 148 is more than I want.

Sorry again... None of my Glocks have factory sights...

I use a Dawson adjustable rear sight on the Glocks I shoot in competition... the one above... If I want to change to a different bullet/powder combination, I just go to the range and sight in the new combination...

To answer my own question . . . I took 124gr, 135gr and 147gr to the range tonight with a Gen1 17 and a Gen3 17c. At 10yds there was no measurable difference in the POA/POI. At 25yds unsupported the groupings were so close that any difference due to ammo, rather than shooter, was also not detectable.

"Felt" recoil was about the same. Shooting strings though brought out a noticeable difference with the 147gr. Muzzle flip was slightly less resulting in quicker return to target. I found this slight physical difference made a mental difference - I felt more relaxed through the 147gr strings.

Back to the 135gr though. I did not find a meaningful difference between it and the 124gr - either in POI or in recoil - even though the drop in fps (~80fps) was the same as the drop in fps from 135 to 147gr. The difference between 135gr and 147gr was far more noticeable than any difference between 124gr and 135gr.

So the conclusion is I will pass on 135gr in the future.
