Both Remington and Federal have Low Recoil 12ga 00-buckshot loads which contain 8 or 9 pellets per shell. The Federals group a lot tighter shot pattern, I guess due to that "flight control wad", than the Remington's load. If I use my shotgun, it's going to be at close range, so I like a pattern that opens up more at closer ranges.

Got one of those as well. A little white puffy thing that is very yappy. She has a shrill bark. Will wake you up and that is perfect. People come over and she barks until told to stop. She will fall back if you invade her space. People that come over laugh at her for being "brave" never really nderstand I got what her purpose is...an early warning system.

While the kids still lived at home I used No.6 bird shot. Now that we are empty nesters I have gone back to my old stand by of Low brass 00 and slug mix. Chaser and a knock down mix.

Used police Remington 870. Great gun for $125

My choice is #4 high brass. Buckshot would probably pass right through the average size person. The trauma surgeon will be in there for a while digging out all of those #4 shot. Creating even more trauma!

I've tried them and they pattern tight! With my 18-1/2' barrel, no choke DBL Barrel, at 7 yards they make a pattern about the size of your fist. Farther on out, they still hold a tight pattern. You can get them in low recoil, and standard in the LE.
