    Difference In Ammo Relating to POA-POI

    I read on the forums that the quality of the ammo used can effect the POA-POI.

    Since I started shooting in 2013 I have used Freedom Munitions 9mm and .45 ACP remanufactured ammo in my Glock 17 Gen 4 and Glock 30 Gen 4 at my range because it is less expensive than a "brand" name. I have never had an issue with this ammo - no mis-fires, failure to feed, etc. I use Speer Gold Dot for self defense.

    How can a name brand ammo improve POA-POI?

    The consistency of the bullet and the power of the load can affect accuracy - probably better described as consistency. I experimented with a lot of different ammo (mostly high end hollow point SD rounds) and ended up choosing Freedom Munitions. If I'm really serious I'll use their Pro Match ammo but the majority of the time I use their HP remanufactured. These hollow points are not designed for expansion, the hole in the end of the bullet is from the manufacturing process and enables a more consistent bullet with the weight distributed for better stability (my understanding).

    I've found Freedom Munitions to be more than accurate enough for my needs - I've made the GSSF 500 club 5x and can't blame any of the close calls on the ammo. Those really serious about precision shooting develop rounds specific to the gun. But they're not using Glocks for that purpose

    MtStream;

    Thanks for your comments and for explaining Freedom Munitions hollow points. I assumed the hollow points were expansion for SD which as you mention they are not.

    Match grade hollow points are used because they cut a smooth hole in cardboard targets... and their design leaves no exposed lead inside the combustion area... hence they don't "lead up" compensators in Open guns...

    Yeah, just as said above, it's not so much what the box looks like, it's all about the components that are put together on the inside. I have found bullet weight seems to make the most of POI change for me.
