    Vacuum seal ammo

I just purchased 1000 rds of fed champion and I want to keep it for a long time for when the zombies take over. I want to know if you think the way that I stored it is a good or bad idea:

In 200 round increments I put them in a vacuum sealed bag with a silica pack to absorb the moisture and then stored all the packs in my ammo can with loose silica packs in the can as well. I know it sounds excessive but I can get that way sometimes.

    good or bad idea?

I'm not seeing the reason here? Do you just never shoot your gun and want to make sure you have a 1000 rounds on hand? Cause if you shoot it...just rotate the boxes out... Buy one, shoot one of the other if your worried about it.

Yes I shoot my gun all the time. I will just store these rounds and buy others when I want to shoot. My reason is I just like having stocked ammo on hand. All I was asking is if people think it is a safe way to store ammo or should the ammo have a little bit of breathing room iin the ammo can?
Diff fokes diff strokes right. No criticism please

i just use the plastic ammo cans with the rubber ring seal in the lid (cabela's ones). keeps out moisture.

I put mine in zip lock baggies and store them in .50 cal ammo cans. For my rifle I load the 10 round stripper clips and put the loaded clips in the ammo cans with out any plastic at all. I do not see a problem with your method all and it can't hurt.

I'm sure your method will work great. I'd just rotate them out, and go through less trouble...but thats just me. Then again I only keep a few hundred rounds per cal. anyhow. I don't/won't stockpile. But if I were to, and shot all the time, I still wouldn't keep the same boxes sitting for years...I'd rotate them out.

    I dunno...

I don't think it could hurt anything... should be all right... just don't forget where you buried it...

    That's what I do, too...

I always try to shoot the oldest ammo first...
