I've spent a ton of time around Law Enforcement Agencies and I know when an Officer/Deputy is walking into a jail facility they have to secure the ENTIRE weapon in a lock box. They do not simply un-chamber a round to make the firearm "safe" and then go ahead into the facility. This has been my intent during the entire conversation. Simply emptying a round from the chamber does not make a firearm safe. When you are carrying a firearm for protection, not having a round chambered can get you killed. When laying a gun on a table around small children, simply not having a round in the chamber can get someone hurt or killed.
It is my opinion, that you empty the firearm and separate the ammo or you safely carry your firearm completely loaded and ready to use

Ya'll are right. I'm wrong. The military is stupid for their practices as well. Congrats...I'm done...you win. Only one way to carry...either loaded, or in a lockbox. LMAO!
The most lethal gun is one that you can hit with!

While I won't fault anyone for carrying condition 3, I feel like for myself, condition 1 is the best way for me to carry, all the time.
I carried in C3 for a while when I first started carrying, but soon realized that never once had I got home and found the trigger in the rearward position from being pressed while holstered, so I began carrying with it C1 and haven't looked back.
I live my life for Jesus, because he gave up his for my sake.
That helps. I never had the opportunity to be in the military. Didn't know they did that. Plus, the ranges that I belong to do not mandate that you clear your weapon. As a matter of fact, no place I go makes me do that, just the places that disarm me totally like the post office, court house, South Carolina, etc...

oooookay. I am new to this forum, but I am going to add my .02 cents anyways.
first of all, I have read all 18 pages (slow day at work). I would like to start by saying everyones opinions and views made sense to me, I can see both sides of everyones arguement. And after reading all of these posts, this is what I have decided I will be doing:
now, I currently do not have a carry, but I am ordering one this weekend and will start carrying soon. I do have practice with firearms (only own a 12g shotgun, recently turned 21.), and do go to the range/dessert frequently with friends. My plans for my first Glock, is for the first week, maybe two, I carry with a snap cap in the chamber. Atleast until I get comfortable with the Glock, and I get used to how it fits, and I find the best, safest, way for ME to carry (ie holster placement, and such)
then, once I get my grove of things, I will switch to +1. I am confident with a Glock being chambered, and I feel the only safety you need is yourself. But since I am new to it, I feel as if i should practice with snap caps in the chamber first.
Now some say "well you dont dont feel comfortable with carrying then you shouldnt do it in the first place", now I understand that but I feel that is a load of crap.
if you dont carry, and learn, practice carrying, and so forth, how are you suppose to become comfortable? I understand going to the range, holstering it, and that sort of practice. But you will only learn by doing. thus I will be doing so the SAFEST way I feel.
and also, I know that AZ does not require a permit to conceal, but I personally think that if you are new to carrying, a class should be required. and I will be getting my ccw before i start to carry, even though I do not need one. you cant go wrong with extra knowledge, training, or practice.

I don't carry my Glock, at least not my G34. I think the 3.5 trigger is too light for carrying. I would probably carry one, but I have to increase the trigger weight to somewhere between 5-7 lbs.
My 3.5 lb trigger is sitting safely on my side as we speak, as it does everyday. Everyone should carry as they feel comfortable.

Yes - always with a round chambered
i carry on my person usually condition 3 because i train that way. its easy to rack while you're pushing the gun out from your chest while you get your sight alignment and honestly if i have to fire at a target that is within 3 feet or so because he is running full speed at me for some reason, I have an edc knife always on me that i can get out quicker. train with that too. i know what you're all going to say, but that's just how i do things. i have a cheap holster sewn into the mattress on my side of the bed that i keep my home defense gun in (SA 1911) always condition 1.
