Can/Does anyone use VersaCarry OUTSIDE pants for range shooting?

Ok... this might sound stupid, or it might happen a lot - I don't know. I'm in NJ, we (for all intent and purpose) can not carry, we're lucky to have locked gun cases in our trunks to and from the range. But here is my question:

I am left handed, if I used a right handed VersaCarry clipped to my belt, would it make a good outside the waistband hoster for range firing? Or does the trigger guard (if you use it) face the wrong way, I try to picture it all and it's like an SAT test trying to figure if what I'd like to do makes sense.

Do people do this? With or without guard does the VersaCarry work outside the waist or does it bind up when pulling the gun from it?

I would just rather NOT have a full holster if the only place I could ever use it is at the range. Thanks.

I m not a fan of the versa carry. I would never carry a gun without the trigger guard completely covered on both sides. I will say you do whatever you a comfortable with, but I would not reccomend any unprotected carry method.

Ok I just clipped on the versa carry to my left side, but first I have to ask. If you can’t carry in NY why do you want to practice with a holster like the versa? Now with it on my left side the trigger guard is between the gun and my hip as opposed to the gun and my clothing on the right. I had no trouble pulling the gun (but that may not be your case). In fact with the versa on the left you can holster the gun. With the versa on your belt (you need to hold the weapon at an angle to holster this cannot be done with the holster on the right and inside your pants so once you draw and want to holster you have to remove it from your right side

    TY Joe:

Being in the restrictive state of NJ, we can't carry as stated (with few exceptions) but my thinking is:

AT THE RANGE, I don't want to always lay the gun down and pick it up, fire, and lay it back down. It's not a Wild West Fetish to want to draw a gun fro a holster, and around the house during dry fire practicing I would like to have access to the gun to build muscle memory from a side-arm position.

We are so limited with what e can do, there are only 3 gun ranges in my county - all within 20 miles, but still indoor gun ranges and no outdoor shooting except for a very expensive private club. I fell that carrying the Glock with me using the Versa Carry will instill a feel of having it on me around the house - handguns are like cellphones, it doesn't do you any good to leave it three rooms away.

I really was/am interested in the ergonomic use of it as you so kindly tried for me - I thank you for that. I'm happy it pulled free of the nub easily and sounds smoothly - and yes, I know a wide belt helps greatly for an easy extraction, but it works and I'm so glad you did this for me. Thanks again.

Just out of curiosity have you looked into the Clipdraw? Also if I were carrying outside the waistband with the versa around the house I would either not have a round chambered or use the Glock Saf-T-Blok
FYI on the draw, be advised that initially it does take many many draws to wear in the nub to be able to draw easily and smoothly
