Copper coat inside the slide rail.

    Hey Guys,

I was taking the slide off my G26, Which I just recently purchased. I noticed that there is Copper Coat or something similar on the slide rail. Are you supposed to put a thin coat back on slide rail after cleaning.

    Thanks

That is "... a high-temperature, factory-applied lubricant. It should be allowed to remain until it naturally wears away to assure long-term lubrication of this area". (that's a direct quote from the Armorer's Manual).

Once it's worn away you can use a regular light oil on the slide rails, according to the instructions in your owner's manual. There's no need to replace the copper-colored stuff.

You can clean it off from the start , relube with your favorite mojo, and forget it ever existed. The gun will be fine without it.

Yep - just put a "small" amount of your favorite gun grease on the sweet spot and you're good to go.

Just heard that sewing machine oil is good to use instead of gun oil in extreame cold temps.

Not sure sewing machine oil is listed in the acceptable lubricants for Glock pistols. I think it says something like " any lubricant approved for firearms".
Are we gonna' sew or shoot! LOL.
