G22 with 9mm KKM Barrel -- 250 round Range Report

Just finished up a good day of outdoor shooting and wanted to post a report. Haven't tried a 9mm conversion barrel until now and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

I started with a stock Gen4 G22, no backstraps, serial prefix YVX---. Removed the stock barrel and placed a KKM precision barrel for 9 mm. Used OEM 9 mm magazines. Nothing else was changed on the stock G22.

Ammo was new 115 gr rounds from Freedom Munitions. Full disclosure-- I had to run the Glock dry, no oil on the barrel because I was a dunce and forgot to bring some with me to the range.

First 50 shots were fine. No malfunctions. From shots 51-100 I had a couple-- 2 stovepipes and one double feed; all within 1 or 2 magazines worth of rounds. Knowing the recoil spring was designed for .40 cal rounds, I swapped it for the G17 0-4-2 recoil assembly. The next 150 rounds-- the rig ran flawlessly. Not a single misfeed.

In summary this conversion combo worked for me:
-115 gr ball ammo from Freedom Munitions
    - Gen4 G22 with 0-4-2 (9mm) recoil spring assembly and with 9mm Glock magazines.
    - Standard length, nonthreaded 9mm conversion barrel from KKM Precision

This is a standard length barrel, not threaded, or comp'ed ?

    Good luck, guys!

I'm going back to the range hopefully soon. Will shoot some more through the same setup and will post followups.

That stiffer 40 cal spring was probably causing the slide to out run mechanics of ejecting and the magazine's ability to feed up a round in time.

    agreed.

When plinking on the range it's actually a great way to practice clearing malfunctions. I posted a separate thread about clearing double feeds after I had to deal with them. I actually plan to go back to the .40 RSA just for that purpose.

I just bought a G17 so I wonnt be swapping anything but loaded magazines.. but I am curious, can you please expand on how the brass was ejected? Strong or weak? In the face, chest arm or to the side, etc..?
