    G 23 ... gen3 or gen4 for 9mm conversion???

Hi all! I'm getting a G23 ASAP! However, I am wondering if it would be better to get a gen3 with the old recoil spring rather than the gen4 with the stronger recoil spring since I will be converting from time to time to the LW 9mm. I have heard that the stronger spring may cause a problem with the 9mm.

I have no problem with the gen3 but would love to have all the latest features on the gen4.

Is the ammo savings at the range (.40 vs 9mm) worth it?

Can anyone shed some additional light on this for me???

    Thanks!

    Tony

Buy the Glock you want... When you get the conversion barrel, buy the appropriate recoil spring. They're only a few dollars....

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! I would rather get the gen4, however, I'm not aware of a weaker or different spring I can use for the 9mm barrel. I'm told that the gen3 spring will not fit.

One way you could go would be to buy a Lone wolf gen3 to gen4 recoil spring adapter and then use the gen3 G19/G23 recoil spring with your 9mm barrel in your gen4 G23. I'm not sure, but I believe that the slide is "almost" the same between gen4 G19 and G23. You could probably buy an "04" gen4 G19 RSA and use it when you use your 9mm barrel.

OK, I found the adapter from LW so I think I get it now.
I'll go with the gen4 and see if I have a problem using the 9mm barrel.

    Thanks!

Shot the G23 gen3 and gen4 today......loved both and bought the gen4 but can't pick it up until Saturday with the 3 day waiting period. The actual cost of ammo is not too bad and the snap is very manageable, could not tell if the new recoil spring made a difference. Anyway, don't know if I'll get the 9mm barrel or not.

    It's a nice addition to my G26!

    Thanks for all the input!

If you buy your ammo thoughtfully.... by that I mean in bulk and shop for bargains, you will be able to shoot the .40 for not "that" much more than 9mm. Where do you buy your ammo now? I use ammunitiontogo.com or similar in bulk for less than Wal-Mart... when I buy ammo. If you really want to shoot anything you want, reload! It's 1/2 of store bought and fun to boot!

P.S. Enjoy your new G23.... everybody loves 'em. Ever watch Hickok45 on youtube? It's his favorite and he has some guns!
