    G29 with 4-6 inch barrel

I want the G29 for it's compact size and powerhouse 10mm versatility. I plan to use it in my EDC rotation. That said, for woods carry I'd like the option of a longer barrel. Am I correct that I can drop in the G20's 4.62 inch barrel into the G29 as desired? Or even the 6 inch barrel?

If so, is the accuracy of the longer barrel affected by the shorter sight radius of the G29? Would the improved accuracy be that much more noticeable?

I'd most likely pick up a KKM Precision barrel to have the option of shooting heavy cast bullets, even though I'm sure the Glock OEM longer barrel would suffice for my needs.

I would not shoot cast bullets through a polygonal rifled barrel...just going off what you said about using the Glock barrel.

In an effort to keep the thread to the original post, I will not regularly shoot heavy lead cast bullets through the OEM or aftermarket barrel. I'd only carry heavy lead cast bullets for woods protection, hopefully never needing to shoot them.

I can't see why the longer barrel would be any different than a threaded barrel with a compensator attached. But the sight radius doesn't change so there will be no improvement in accuracy from that aspect.
You will get more punch from the rounds you use with the longer barrel.
Why not just get a carbine conversion kit for your woods carry?

I never considered a carbine conversion kit. Can anyone provide a link?

    G20 barrel won't work in G29, just like G17 barrel won't work in G19/26.

What Walter said. The barrel lugs are spaced closer together in the compact/sup-compact pistols. A G19 barrel will fit a G26 but there's not a compact 10mm and I don't know that it would gain enough ballistic improvement from the typical barrel difference between compact and sub-compact.

You will like the G29- have one and is one of my carry guns. I have used Lonewolf barrels- excellent quality. Put a G20 mag in a G29 and be able to run it like full size. Reason why I sold G20 to fund the Noveske

A lone wolf extended barrel will definitely work in your 29 for a woods gun and will most definitely increase velocity! Your right about the shorter sight radius though, I wouldn't say accuracy would suffer though just be a little more challenging at long distances.

You can most definitely shoot hard cast bullets in your stock barrel! A case or two at a time are fine and won't do anything and but prolonged use will lead the barrel causing pitting and whatnot. Accuracy and ballistics are reduced and you'll need to get another barrel is all. But you'll be fine with a KKM barrel doing that.

Enjoy man! It doesn't get much better than 10mm!
    Roger Ball!
