Question experiences with the G23 Gen4?

this seems to be the one gen4 you hear the least about. you'd think it would be the opposite being that the gen3 g23 is the most popular LE pistol in this country. googling doesn't produce much info. i'm thinking about getting one

anyone here have one? can you provide experiences as far as reliability, trigger pull, and recoil?

    thanks

I was looking for a Glock 23 gen4 but could only find the 17, 19, and 22 gen 4s. I think we don't hear much about them casue we can't find them. The only issue with the 19 gen4 is the recoil spring with some ammo; since the 23 should have the same recoil spring it should not have any issue with FTE due to the heavier caliber. You can also get a 9mm conversion barrel and shoot cheaper ammo for practice. Reliability is great, trigger pull is th same as any other Glock. If you reload be carefull about inspecting the casings. Recoil is heavier than 9mm but nothing worse than any other light and small 40 S&W. I may get one if I find it!

A member named Glockwork 23 had a thread (My first Glock: Gen4 G23) about this pistol on November 8, apparently he/she bought one. You might look for that thread for more information. If there's no information in the thread you could contact the member by email.

But you're the DON! You knew all that, didn't you?

the gen4 g22's can be more prone to weak wrist jams because of the heavy recoil spring too. a local police officer friend of mine carries one he just bought and has noticed this. on the other hand, they don't encounter any issues when tac lights are attached like some of the gen3 40cals. i was wondering if these were also issues with the gen4 g23.

The problem some of the 9mm 4th generation Glocks had was because Glock put the recoil spring assembly designed for the .40 cal Glocks into the 9mm Glocks.

I haven't heard of anyone having trouble with any of the .40 cal 4th gen Glocks...

The little info I have seen on them hasn't ha anything bad to say. Take it for what it's worth though, I would mind to have one myself but I am waiting for that 4th gen G26. I might buy one later or at least a 32 with a 40 barrel or vise versa

    Hey Don Glock!

So I've put around 500 rounds through it at this point. Shooting 180gr Federal FMJ and I've had no FTF or any problems at all. In my opinion the recoil isn't that bad and I really like the adjustable back straps (I have a medium size one on because I have somewhat big hands). I really enjoy the 4th Gen G23, it's a lot of fun to shoot and like someone else mentioned you can use it with .357 or 9mm with a conversion barrel and mags for the 9mm. To me at least it feels like the perfect gun, I love the size and the new grips. Let me know if you have any other questions!

thank you for your post! i was actually wondering specifically if it feeds the weak walmart fed champion 40cal reliably, and you just answered that. hmmm, might have to get me one. i;m selling a 1911 soon, and this may be my next acquisition.

gander mountain has all glocks on sale for $499, including gen4's, but they only have gen4 17/22's in stock. i had them check all the ganders in my state!

yepp that the exact ammo I use for the range. Stuff is pretty clean too and not a single problem thus far. That's a good deal, I paid $560 for mine. I should have done the GSSF discount but didn't know about it til after I bought it, dough!
