What Is Advantage Of G17L vs. G34 G4???

I decided I want a G17L in my Glock collection.

For those whose got both the 17L and the G34 G3 or G34 G4, is there any advantage of the 17L vs the G34???

    I only own one G17 G4 (grey frame). I'm a G19 freak.

But, I decided I want a 17L since there are still a few available on GB. I will also get a G34 (MOS) in the coming weeks.

But, the 17L, is it a great Glock to own vs the G34??? Rationale?

    Thanks in advance.

Add: This will help me decide how far I willing to go bidding for the 17L (new).....

Friend has 34 and loves it. I recently bought a 17l, and it's my favorite range Glock. Not much difference in the two, but I just like having a barrel that's a little longer than my friend's.

Thanks Walter. I really thought about it, as to ""why"" I would want the 17L and the 34 MOS.

I guess it boils down to selection: some guys like Sig, some like Colt etc.....I really like my polymer guns
and my Colt carbines and Mossy shotguns. Nothing fancy, they just work. It is what it is.

    Thanks again.

G34s are more plentiful than 17Ls. There are some 17Ls available now.

I have a 17L and a couple of 34's... All are fun, but the 17L is unique and somewhat rare... although Glock continues to make a run of them every three years or so... It's a fun gun to shoot...

34's are legal for USPSA's Production, while 17L's get bumped up to Limited... That's actually why the 34 was originally created... The six inch 17L (and 24) were kicked out of Production, so Glock created the 34 (and 35) to meet the new rules...

Yeah, I am currently working on getting my hands on one of the new ones released recently. I was bidding on a used one and the price got up very close to what MtStream said he paid for his.

So, I bowed out on bidding for the used one and set my sight on a new one. Bidding ends 2-1-17. Hopefully I will get my hands on it. Wish me luck. For anyone to beat me on it, they'll have to pay. I hope I don't have to go there. I'll see.

When I get a 34 MOS, I'll just have two long slides then. The 34 will move down my list if I get the 17L. I'll get the 41 or 43 after this one. I'm sitting on two GSSF certs now and need to use them. I due for another in 3 or 4 months. I called GT Dist (the Blue Label dealer in my area) and they will let me use both of them. So, I need to get on it.

I still need the 34 and 43 to have each model of Glocks 9mm's (as well as the 17L). I don't know why I suddenly started taking a huge liking to it. I would like to have the barrel ported, or at least, I think I would. Won't really know till I get my hands on it and shoot it.

Wow. Thanks ___jb. I wondered why they were doing the two models being so much alike, but, yet a lil different. I'm gonna try and get my hands on one. I'll know day after tomorrow.

If you do decide to get the 17L's barrel ported, think about buying a second barrel... Have the spare barrel ported... That way you can always return your 17L to its original condition...

Longer slight radius and a little more velocity, that's all. The G34 will be more common in USPSA and IDPA.

Yes, my thought exactly. Would there be any benefit of a ported barrel for this model (17L)?
