    Choosing G42 over G43 for CCW/EDC

My wife is looking to pick up a G42 for CCW. In doing some reading on the G42 I was surprised how many posts I found about people choosing the G42 over the G43. I know and understand for a lot of individuals they want the slightly smaller profile and less recoil from the G42 (380) vs the G43 (9mm). And a lot of individuals grabbed the G42 when it first came out, wishing Glock started w/ a 9mm in the G42 size. I've read more posts that I expected to from those "early adopters" of the small Glocks, that ran out and got G43s when they were released, and have elected to continue to carry the G42 after firing both. Most posts I saw said they were able to shoot the G42 better, and the slight size difference was noticeable for carry (especially pocket carry). I have a G43 that my wife and I shoot well, and we are going to go rent a G42 and see what difference we feel and see, but I was wondering if anyone on these forums had a similar experience?

I have both, sort of, my daughter carries the 42 but now wishes she had my 43 or even my 19. I like both but I like Glocks also. If she's alredy shooting your 43 well, I would stay with that. 9mm ammo is cheaper than 380 and you can find 9mm world wide.

    Also welcome to the forum.

I have a 42 and other .380s as well as other 9mm. I carry the 42 and a Ruger LCP everywhere.

I have both. There is a noticeable weight difference between the two. I prefer the 9mm round for SD but carry Underwood's Lehigh XtremePenetrator in the 42 which greatly increases my confidence in the platform (but they are expensive). Currently the 42 is an off body backup with either the 43 or 26 on body when I can.

I have both definetly G42 easier to shoot even with one hand. I carry mine with Hornady XTP 90gr. The G43 is new in my rotation and the difference in recoil is noticed but manageble even without magazine extension. I have both guns with magguts +1 for the flush magazine and pierce +1 for the backup magazine. The big differen is with ammo price more expensive for the 380acp. The G42 can be easily carry in a pocket or purse is very light. I trust more the 9mm round and my choice of ammo is 147gr Winchester Ranger.
