    New Glock

Well.......after fighting myself for some time I finally gave in and bought a new Blue Label Glock-17 Gen-4. I was reluctant at first cause I had an early Gen-4 that had a lot of problems. After four RSA changes, it still wasn't working right. A friend (who is also a Glock Armorer and gunsmith) posted online that he was looking for a Gen-4 for trade.

We met and he traded a S&W 66 for my Glock. My son who is also one of his friends said that he had met with him on another deal. He said that he was told to tell me hi and that there was no chance I was going to get my Glock back.

Anywho, I'm going to do something I've never done before. I'm going to keep records of rounds shot and any problems. I'm going to turn this into my match gun. Only thing I'm going to do to it is install an extended slide stop.

If you already had Gen1-3 how could you not have a Gen4?

Hope you find keeping records really, really boring

That was another reason I wanted a Gen-4. To keep my collection going. If it weren't for the BATFE requirement of "multiple firearm sales reporting", I would have gotten a Gen-4 19 while I was at it. I'm going to go back in a few weeks and see if they still have one. I have an early Gen-2 and I do shoot it, but I want a 19-4 for carry.

I have a 21SF that I use for matches and I have no idea how many rounds I have through it. As you know there is a recommended schedule for spring changes and stuff like that. I'm guessing I have at least 4-5k of my reloads through this gun, but no way of confirming it.

I did have a Gen-4. It was an early one that was having problems with RSA, extractor and ejector issues. The first day I went to the range, it choked four times in the first 50 rounds. Totally not acceptable.

I called Glock and they blamed it on ammo. "Our new Gen-4 with the dual recoil spring is designed to be used with NATO spec ammo. WWB has known issues and will cause the malfunctions you described"

I went through three RSA's sent from Glock and I still didn't trust it. The guide rod was hanging up on the end of the slide causing the problems. Later on I found out there were also extractor and ejector issues as well.

I asked the salesman if they had corrected the problems and he said "yes, there has been several design changes since the early ones came out and we haven't had any problems since".

    We'll see.

    And now I have a gen-4 19 Blue Label.

Anybody got any good leads for an app for the iPhone/iPad to make a log for tracking rounds and usage?

    Hope you have better luck with both your new Gen4 17 & 19. I have a Gen4 17 & a Gen4 21
and have had ZERO problems with well over 3,000 rounds through each. That's a combination of
factory and home loads. Have fun keeping a log... but more fun shooting your new acquisitions.
