I just heard from a friend about a G17L, with a compensated barrel, NIB, with 3 magazines at a pawn shop nearby, for $695. I question the NIB. Also question the
$695! I'm going to check it out tomorrow. If it's real and I can get them to back up $100 it will have a new home!

That's not a bad deal... The problem with pricing on the 17L long slides is that they don't make them any more... They keep getting more and more expensive... and I heard that Glock crushed the dies, but I don't know if that's really true or not...
I bought a 17L that was NIB a few months ago from a dealer... Mine has the standard barrel and only came with two magazines... Check the label to see how many magazines it should come with... Mine was a red label 3rd gen...
Mine also came with adjustable sights and a 4.5# connector. It should say "ADJ" and "4.5LB" on the label, too... and it should have a "-" minus connector. Check the firing date of the two shell casings it comes with... Mine had sat in the original box for a long time... I cleaned and lubed mine before I shot it.
I hope you get it... I love mine... and I shoot the heck out of it, too... I'm preserving it with gunpowder...![]()

Picked up the 17L today! It was not exactly as my friend described it. It does not have a ported barrel or 3 magazines. However, it is NIB, (Red Box) with Adjustable sights. Sounds like the same as yours. Traded the OD G17 and some cash for a great deal IMO. Can't wait to start preserving it. LOL.

that's ok, you don't want a ported 17L. the original 17L's had ported barrels from the factory that cracked around the ports. glock replaced them (if you sent it in), and changed them to a non-ported one. congrats, you did good
1st Gen 17L ported(rather rare) because Glock recalled them, The metal between the ports is so thin the
barrels would crack.![]()

The porting on a 9mm does little to tame recoil & increases the noise & reduces velocity..
That's the greatest thing about the long barrel it increases velocity..
Also the longer sight radius aids in pin point accuracy..
Congrats Rowdie!!

Very nice, Rowdie... Congratulations!
Mine also starts with MTY for its serial number and the test shells were dated 10 days after yours. Our 17L's are very similar, indeed! The only thing I've done to mine is replace the adjustable sights with a set of Ameriglo Pro Operators...
Have fun shooting...

what is the barrel length on the 17L? does the L mean longslide?
Rowdie,
great find, I would love to run across one too.
Have fun with it!

The 17L has a 6" barrel & L does stand for Longslide..
For some reason Glock gave a new # to their other three longslides the G24,G34 & G35..
The G34 & G35 have a 5 1/2" barrel & will fit in the box & can be used in competition..
