    Finally, some clarity from Glock.

While I agree that the new rules are a little restrictive, at least they're more clear than the previous attempt. As an Armorer, for me it was possible on December 31st to walk in and buy two guns under the program, and then on the 1st of January it was possible to buy two more. THAT was crazy. I didn't do it, but it did cross my mind.

What also struck me as a little odd was that when I made my first purchase under the program, the only method the dealer (and Glock) had to track the sale was to write the serial number of the gun on my GSSF membership card. Same for the second purchase.

As for dealers "selling" GSSF memberships and a discounted gun on the same day (on the same credit card charge!), that is a great example of what we call "gaming the system". Glock left the door open with unclear rules, so folks took it upon themselves to interpret the rules to their advantage. It happens.

I mean, why on earth would anybody want to be able to walk into a dealer, pay their $35, and get a big old discount immediately when they could have the opportunity to send GSSF a check and wait, oh, four to six weeks for a reply? Is EVERYBODY in a hurry?

The coupons make sense to me, although I wonder if they'll pick up on the fact that some GSSF members are Armorers, and should get two coupons. We'll see.

All in all, this whole deal doesn't bother me. After all, Glock is a business, and they have to protect their interests. Are there other gun makers who offer a discount program AND an Armorer's program? I don't know of one, but they may be out there.

NO because the purpose of GSSF is not to give discounts to buy a GLOCK.

what does a membership cost for gssf? what does a g17/g22 cost with the discount? I'm wondering if there is much savings paying a member just to buy a pistol. the g17/g22 sell around $485 to 490 around here.

The program is a shooting program not a discount one. I think you keep losing sight of that.

First year membership is 35. Gen4's sell for 525-550 here in my area. With the GSSF discount they are around 430 I think. My local dealer gives the Homeland Security Discount to LE, Firefighters, TSA, EMT's etc. So picked up my gen4 17 last friday for 429 since im a volunteer firefighter. Its definately worth the 35 GSSF dues to get around 100 dollars off a glock once a year but the foundation is to get glock shooters together to shoot. Anyway, I'm really not surprised if people "took advantage" of what the rules let them do. I personally signed up with GSSF to start shooting with other glock shooters at some of the competitions, but also I'll used the discount if they let me.

Thanks Redbird. looks like it would be a good deal. i looked at gssf site and the closest shoot is 3 hours away. maybe they should make a rule that you have to shoot in at least one competition to get a discount. my son paid 522 for his gen 4 17 here.
