Hey gang. Had my G22 over to the smithy today to have him push the rear sight a tad for me. On the ticket, I put "please make any comment on the barrel and frame as appropriate".
He replaced the recoil spring with a new, stock for ten bucks and also the firing pin spring for an additional 3 bucks.
When he called me he said I have some barrel wear from high mileage. This piece IS a police trade-in so I'll buy that. He indicated some peening marks under the slide that have been discussed here many times as being normal but told me on my gen2 G22, it was because of the weak recoil spring. Peen marks:

These are the exact marks he pointed to. I remembered reading about them here and that it was no biggy.
Then he showed me some wear on the barrel.

The photo is just an ad that allowed me to show the wear area best. The sharp (normally) corners are rounding off.
Looking for comments...And as always, thanks in advance!

can you post a pic of your barrel? cannot believe that barrel wear is an issue. remember, there's a gen1 g17 at the glock factory in austria with over 328,000 rounds through it and works fine lol. that edge is going to round out from friction eventually.
the peening to the slide happens regardless of recoil spring strength.
that's why glock added the locking block pin some years back to alleviate that issue somewhat. either way, the peening causes no probs. my gen4 g23 has a little finish wear where the locking block contacts the slide too.
the u-shaped polymer inside the dustcover is what suffers damage when the recoil spring's worn, and it can take a LOT of damage before a frame replacement is needed.![]()

Unfortunately, I have no cam that will give near adequate detail to show the wear involved here. Suffice it to say that the 90 edge there is "rounding" a bit. The armorer at this gunshop (biggest, best known indoor range etc in the area) simply commented on it (and the peening) and that I would need a barrel before long.
What led me to question this was the peening. The link I posted to the Glock.Pro thread is the EXACT location and amount of peening that I have and the armorer thought it was an issue. I already knew better for that part. But he did set my rear sight, clean and lube, replace recoil and firing pin springs for a total of $25. Thought that was fair.
I'll try and get a neighbors cam that takes good photos and take a couple shots of the barrel issue to post.
Oh yeah...and the store made me wait 4 days again for wifes rifle...said i't because of my name...too many ax murderer or some such nonsense lol but soon...very soon ;-)
I was thinking about changing it to, say... Sam Smith lol
Best photos I could get are located here:

Any comments appreciated!
3rd and 4th ones are best images of barrel wear pattern and all are enlargeable

Bump....actual photos posted
cool. thanx for the pics, my friend
looks like it's seen some action. remember, the bullet has already left the barrel before the unlocking process takes place, and it will still lock up tight on the forward edge.
i assume it caused you no issues in the accuracy or reliability dept, as you only took it to the smitty for a site drift.
however, i would call and email those pics to glock, see if you can score a free barrel out of the deal. (who cares about non-matching serial numbers lol) won't cost you anything to try. if not, no worries. looks like normal wear to me.![]()
