On September 6, 2011, GLOCK Inc. will begin voluntarily exchanging the recoil spring assembly (RSA) on its new Gen4 pistols shipped since 2009 GLOCK's product development team has modified various elements of the RSA to ensure each pistol's performance meets the company's demanding standards. With several variations of the RSA in the market today, GLOCK's goal with this voluntary exchange is to standardize the RSA to gain the best possible performance in each pistol.
Armorers should note that Gen4 G26 and G27 models will not require a modified recoil spring.
The new RSA's all have unique markings on the base of the part. The enclosed chart is designed to help you readily identify the correct RSA for your pistol.
Unless a directive is mandated by your agency or your store, the replacement of the Gen4 pistol's RSA can be performed as part of the regular field-strip process. Agencies or Consumer's wishing to participate in the exchange program at no charge are urged to call 1-877-745-8523 to order their new RSA.
For more information on the details of the exchange program, visit GLOCK.

While GLOCK has great customer service and all that, their shipping department/fulfilment is not all that great. I'd give it a few more days and then give them a call back.

lol yeah, the guy I talked to was handwriting my info on a piece of paper to input in the system later. I planned on giving them a month then calling to verify they had my information. Since my current RSA works great, I am not in a hurry.

Well my original order had completely gone AWOL... I ordered mine before the recall and and was not told all of the little details. When I called on a Friday at the 2 week mark the lady told me that LEO was getting first priority but since I had been quoted 2 weeks she went ahead and sent it to me and I had it the following Monday (yesterday).

Ordered mine on 9/7. It arrived today and according to the packing list it was shipped 9/15.

Ordered mine a day or two before this post went up. I was told it would ship out within a week. I had completely forgotten about it until today. It will show up in time. I'm not too worried .... even though I was close to the front of the line and they are located 60 miles from me. Seriously tough, It will show up. Imagine how many of these they have to get out.

given the amount of traffic this thread's gotten I'm a little bit at a loss. why is this set of new RSAs getting so much more attention than the previous Gen4 springs? Is Glock Inc promoting it more heavily? Did they officially call it a "recall"?

I have no recent frame of reference since I've been tracking the RSA history
ever since the numberless RSAs came with the very first Gen4s released

I have no intentions of sending mine back.... If i ever need a spare I can fall back on it and if i ever sell the gun i will be able to provide all parts as it came from the factory. The 0-4 RSA doesn't pose as a danger just an inconvenience. Who knows... the cast extractors may be the root cause of odd ejection patterns.

My Gen4 G19 came with the 0-3 spring. When Glock started replacing them with the 0-4 spring, I called and had them send me one.
When the 0-4-3 spring arrived yesterday I returned the 0-3 spring and held on to the 0-4. That's an exchange right?

Got the 0-2-4 spring today. I'll send one of the older ones back. Maybe the un-numbered RSA...or is it a collectors item?

I have some pics that show the difference between the new 0-2-4 and the 0-2-1. Full disclosure-- these pics are from sjz at GlockTalk. Thanks to that person for giving me permission to re-post.

Here's the 0-2-4. Notice how the both the polymer and collar ends are beefier and better reinforced.

0-2-1 spring below. I always wondered if that bend in the metal was an intentional design or not. I'm guessing intentional because the metal sheath doesn't cone in or look crimped on that end. And my own 0-2-1 spring looks exactly the same as sjz's.

The 0-3-3 is correct if you have a G23 or G32, according to the chart in the OP. The 0-4-3 is for the G19.

I called and place my order on 9/6, the first day. I called them 2 days ago to make sure they had my order in the system (because originally the guy told me he was handwriting my info and would enter it later). They said they had my order in the system but it would be a couple more weeks. They said it has been taking 4 weeks to process before they ship. Granted, many others are getting theirs much faster. So I am still waiting patiently.

Well, my new RSA showed up Saturday. It is much beefier than the previous one and reinforced in several places. My old one works great, but I will take the new one to the range this week and likely replace my old one with it if it passes the test.

I ended up putting my old one back in... am not satisfied withthe performance of the new one yet. I will swap it in at the range to get it broken in but i will continue to carry with the original

Interesting. I still haven't gotten mine to the range (I am still carrying the old one for now), but if it doesn't meet my standards I will stick with the old one. I've got around 1,000 rounds through this current RSA so part of me wants to just keep using it until it wears out then switch to the new one anyway.

My new gen4 G19 came with the "0-4-3" RSA and it cycles fine, but sprays empties any direction. I've got an extra 9mm Glock O.E.M. extractor with a "2" stamped on the "round bit", which I believe is the most recent version. After one too many empties to the forehead, I polished all surfaces that contact anything. This improved but did not correct the erratic ejections. I've got a Lone Wolf extractor on the way....

I had this in the back of my mind. Apparently way back, as I forgot about it.

I called the number yesterday and ordered the replacement for my G23.
The lady was very polite and helpful. It only took about 3 minutes total. She did say to return the old one in the provided self return envelope:mad:

Hopefully it comes soon.

you don't have to return the old one. I still have both of mine. There was really nothing wrong with the RSA for the G23. The new one is just a little "beefier". I have both and still use my old one as a spare and it has never had a single failure or malfunction of any sort.
