On September 6, 2011, GLOCK Inc. will begin voluntarily exchanging the recoil spring assembly (RSA) on its new Gen4 pistols shipped since 2009 GLOCK's product development team has modified various elements of the RSA to ensure each pistol's performance meets the company's demanding standards. With several variations of the RSA in the market today, GLOCK's goal with this voluntary exchange is to standardize the RSA to gain the best possible performance in each pistol.
Armorers should note that Gen4 G26 and G27 models will not require a modified recoil spring.
The new RSA's all have unique markings on the base of the part. The enclosed chart is designed to help you readily identify the correct RSA for your pistol.
Unless a directive is mandated by your agency or your store, the replacement of the Gen4 pistol's RSA can be performed as part of the regular field-strip process. Agencies or Consumer's wishing to participate in the exchange program at no charge are urged to call 1-877-745-8523 to order their new RSA.
For more information on the details of the exchange program, visit GLOCK.
I've seen multiple pictures of a new 0-8 assembly for Gen3/4 G26,27,33,39. It looks like the Gen4 guide rods except there's no metal muzzle cap. There's another 0-8-1 which has a very thin metal washer at the muzzle end to keep the spring captured, it's not a metal muzzle cap like the Gen4 guide rods have, just a thin metal washer. There's no telling how many versions they'll go through before they settle on the final one.
I have to wonder what happened to 0-6. Maybe it's for the G29/30/36.
This may sound like a stupid question but I recently purchased a glock 19. While lookin on-line I kept noticing people keep referencing gen 3 and gen 4 glocks. I saw pics of glocks that had gen 3 and gen 4 stamped on it. My Glock does not have gen 3 or gen 4 stamped on it. I was wondering if anyone knew why it would not be stamped on it. From looking at pics of the handgrips online I would have to say that my gun is a gen 3 but I'm not sure. How do I find out and does it really make a difference? I bought it in Jan 2013. Thanks for anyone's help in advance.
gen4s are marked as such, gen3, and the other (2) generations for that matter, simply have G19 on the slide. Glock still produces new gen3 G19s as well as gen4s, I would suggest yours is a gen3.
That pretty much explains it. It would have to be a generation 3. I can tell by the grips. If I can figure it out I will post some pics later. I love this gun. My wife want's to buy a glock 26 for concealed carry so I guess we will be crossing that bridge pretty soon. The only problem I'm having right now is I only have 200 rounds left and I can't get any more because everyone is freaking out about rumors flying around and buying everything up. I think we should wait a few months to buy her gun and maybe by then ammo will be more readily available and the price will drop back down. Until then I'm not going to fire my 9mm any more. Never know when the s*** might hit the fan....
