Being new to GLOCKS, I'm frequently finding myself searching online when people reference their GLOCKmodels. Im sure im not the only one who doesn't have these memorized. Let me know if I've missed any, and I'll update the list. Mods, maybe we can make this a "Sticky" to help others?
I felt a little lost with their numbering system to when I first jumped into to the Glock world. It must mean something to them in Austria, but I have always wondered what their thought pattern was for using the system they have. It seems calling a .40 a 40 and a .40 compact a 40c would make too much since.
Seems like I read that the first model was called 17 because that was the 17th patent registered by the company that made Glock.
Were the following model numbers sequential with the introduction of each model?
This is my understanding of it as well. The G17 was the 17th patent by the glock company (which had other products before making guns and multiple patents on guns before finalizing the 17). After that, they went in order of release of new models.
Note to any new members to GLOCK, the .380 models cannot be imported by civilians into the USA. They don't meet the minimum number requirement for import. Law Enforcement can have them, if for some reason they chose to, but the sizes are the same as the G19 so why would you go with a smaller cartridge with no gain in conceal-ability. The .380 models have been known to popup for sale here and there and to my knowledge, there is no law against a civilian owning one.
Blue label Glocks are discounted for Law Enforcement, Military, GSSF members... They have a blue label as opposed to the normal red (or sometimes white) label...
