I felt a little lost with their numbering system to when I first jumped into to the Glock world. It must mean something to them in Austria, but I have always wondered what their thought pattern was for using the system they have. It seems calling a .40 a 40 and a .40 compact a 40c would make too much since.

Seems like I read that the first model was called 17 because that was the 17th patent registered by the company that made Glock.
Were the following model numbers sequential with the introduction of each model?

Im not positive, but I think the numbers are in order of when they were produced.
