    Home defense and ccw

I thought this can be an interesting topic. I own several Glocks and every now and then I get bored with what I choose to use for home defense and ccw, so I'll change things up every now and then. I shoot enough where I am not that concerned changing. Right now I am using my Gen 4 22 as my home defense and carry for when I venture out in the woods. I plan on using my 30sf for my ccw after I have a few hundred rounds through it. How about you? Do you change things up every now and then? Also, what is your current home defense and ccw handgun? I look forward to the responses.

I have a G22 for my home defense, but wouldn't be opposed to others. Honestly I feel that all the guns I have are ultimately for home defense, the G22 is just the closest and should do the job until I can get to the rest of them.

I personally do not like to change things up*, (see my explanation on GLOCKS below). I like to use the same holster, in the same position, with the same firearm every time. I use the same firearm I carry, train with and compete with for all aspects of self defense. Be that home defense, Carry, etc..

*On GLOCKS and switching.. It is my opinion that when discussing the option of swapping around firearms that are nearly identical, it may be OK to do so. Choosing to carry a G19 one day and a G17 that is setup basically identically is not an issue as far as I'm concerned. I buy my kydex holsters to fit G17s, and carry my G19 in them so I have the ability to swap out at the range or during a competition, etc.. I would say that this could probably go for most firearms of the same type/configuration. If I had two quality well tested 1911s, I wouldn't have an issue swapping them out between each other.

I would not however, choose to carry my GLOCK today, my 1911 tomorrow and a revolver on Sunday. Each having it's own holster, that may or may not be carried in a different position. This is not to say that I NEVER do this, it's just not something I try to do if at all possible. Currently, I have a Ruger LCP in a belly band on because my clothing choices and activities precluded me from wearing my normal EDC. I also spent a few minutes practicing my draw this morning when I put it on. While I believe if a incident were to occur right now, I'd probably reach for my waist at the 3 PM position hoping to grab my trusty G19, I would hope I could change "modes' quickly enough to save my life or the life of my loved one.

    Your mileage may vary.

    17 and 34 for home defense... 26 and sometimes/rarely a 19 for CCW...

I do change my carry every now and then, but they are all glocks and I use the same brand/style holster for all of them for the reasons The Law mentioned. I carry my 30 95% of the time, G19 and G22 the other 10%, and a LCP in a pocket holster as my BUG. I seems my EDC is pushing about 10 pounds these days. It have a Glock in close proximity for HD, but my primary home defense guns are a Mossberg 500 Persuader and an AR-15.

I agree with TheLaw about keeping it consistent. However, I recently changed my CCW from an H&K USP40 to the Glock 26, with Speer Golddot 124g +p. The H&K has been relegated to "home defense only", and is now sporting an attached flashlight.
I'm still tweaking my carry options for the 26. Got a FOBUS rotopaddle on the way, just so I can experiment with carry positions and angles before springing big bucks on a leather rig. The different gun is indeed noticeable. The 26 is so much lighter than the HK, that I find myself constantly checking to make sure it is still there! Currently carrying in a yaqui by the Holster Store.

I change it around and even though people like to pick on me when I say this on a Glock forum from time to time I DO NOT carry a Glock. I have others that I get out from time to time. However, they are all POA/POI accurate or they don't make it into the CCW/off duty lineup and remain range toys. As much as I hate to admit it after the harassment I got the last time I admitted it I am not carrying a Glock right now. It is instead a S&W model 65 357mag with a 3"barrel. The bedside is currently a HK USP Tactical 45acp with a light mounted on it and night sights just in case.
