Glock 23...
Started with a Glock 22. Liked the idea of a bit smaller of a grip with the Gen4 models, as well as a smaller pistol. Looked at 'em and the rest is history (traded the gen3 G22 for a gen4 G23).
I should have considered the 19, 'cause now I want a 9mm.![]()

"Remember, we don't see things as THEY are, we see things as WE are"
27 was my first Glock about 15 years ago.
Was carrying a Colt Commander and was just ready for something different. Had a friend who owned a Glock 19 at the time and after listening to him go on and on, I said what the heck. Got the 27 and just kept adding more.
1911's are what I owned for several years (still do). Over time, I wanted to add a 9mm to the collection. I tried the XD Tactical and liked it, but the dealer that I use couldn't get one for me within the timeframe that I wanted (less than a month). I tried the Beretta 92, but because I am a lefty, my thumbs interfered with the trigger bar. A friend let me try his G34, and I really liked it, so I bought one. The Glock fit my hand, parts were easy to get, maintenance was very simple, and the reliability was well known. I chose the 34 over the 17 because of the longer site radius. I wanted something that mimicked the site radius of my 1911's. Fast forward 4 or so years, and Wisconsin becomes the 49th CCW state. I bought an IWB Crossbreed Supertuck and tried carrying the G34. It was pretty "uncomfortable" so I purchased a G19. The G34 is a gen 3, while the G19 is a gen 4. I haven't had any issues with either gun (approx 20,000 rounds through the G34 and 1,000 through the G19). I have though about a G26 or G36 for summertime CCW, but don't know if I'll end up getting one.
I wanted a gun that could basically do it all (Range, Home Defense, and Carry) since I can't afford more than 1 gun at the moment. While the 19 can't do any of those "perfectly", it does each very well. I originally wanted a subcompact but didn't want my fingers hanging off the bottom and I didn't want to have to use an extended base plate. But with the 19 I don't have to sacrifice grip and I can carry it and have 15 rounds at my disposal. Also, I felt more accurate with the 19 when I tested different ones out at the range. The m&p 9c was a close runner up though. I'm thinking by the summertime of picking up a PF 9 for easier carry.
My first pistol is a S&W M&P .45acp. I got it for compatibility with my bug out buddy. It's a great pistol, but mags are expensive, it only holds 10 rounds (I have the extended 14 rounders too) .45acp is as expensive and scarce as legal aged single women in my area, and almost none of my other firearms peps have .45acp weapons, limiting compatibility with them.
My roomie has weapons chambered in .40S&W. Obviously he's much nearer to me than my bug out buddy, so I started to look for something in that caliber. It gives a good amount of ammo capacity and decent stopping power. Carrying capacity is comparable to a 9mm but with more stopping power. My bug out buddy would have preferred a .40, only getting the .45 because that's what was in stock when he purchased it. My intent was to find a weapon with interchangeable mags with my roomie.
A guy at work has a Glock 22 and showed it to me when I asked him for advice about a new firearm.
The local gun store had a Kel Tec Sub 2000 one day while I was browsing. I found out it could take mags from a Glock, which I thought was really cool.
The Glock 22 and sub 2k chambered in .40 fit a niche I was looking for: the cowboy armament. Both weapons use the same caliber ammo, and in this case also can use the same mags. Now I just need to convince my roomie and bug out buddy to get compatible weapons or accessories.
Good story!
