Hey Guys,
Looking at picking up my second glock soon, I'm looking for a 23 so I can use .40 and convert to 9mm and use compact/full size mags.
While I would prefer a 3rd gen I have the misfortune of living in Massachusetts, where glocks are no longer legally imported and pre-ban caches are near dry. I still managed to find a promising used piece though, it appears to be a 2nd gen g23, and here's the kicker: it has a green frame.
Of course my bullsh!t filter went ballistic at the sight of it. I was under the impression that glock only began experimenting with the colors in gen 3 and up. When I asked the seller about it he states: "By all appearances it's solid in color. I've never chipped the frame...".
Now he could still be selling me a line of sh!t but he seems like a good guy so figured I'd check with someone higher than myself (you guys) before I decide whether or not to hand the man my cash. Since he lives across the state from me it's gonna be a significant investment just to drive out and see it.
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
PS. He states the Stippling on the frame is a custom job from the previous owner.

Didn't realize Massachusetts sucked so bad...
The green OD (olive drab) Glocks have been discontinued, but lots of people like them and are willing to pay more for them... Don't let the OD color discourage you...

I have friends with green frames and they love them.
From what I know, the Gen3's are the only OD frames. Also, the color is off from what I see in this pic. The factory OD frames have more of a brown look to them. I would say the gun was stippled and then Duracoated, or some similar coating was applied. If you like the gun, then buy it, but I wouldn't pay any premium based on the color.

Gen2's were never made green, that frame is painted.

...that would be a Painted Frame, but a seemingly nice job!![]()

maybe I'm crazy, but not only does that look like it is not a factory OD, but are you sure it is Gen2? It looks like gen 3 to me (can't tell from pic if it has rail, and can't tell if finger grooves are in the grip or not).
EDIT: After looking into it, I guess they did make some later 2nd gen models with finger grooves often called gen 2.5.

Hard to tell but the frame is "off" for sure. No light rail, but it's at least a two pin, if not a three pin GLOCK. With the grip sleeve on it's hard to tell if there is a pin there and if there are actual finger grooves or if it's the grip. Also, notice the texture which doesn't look right on the grip itself and there is texture on the front part of the frame under the slide.

When did Glock drop the SW from the calibre stamp on the slide?
