How come they don't test Hornady? Is Hornady no good, not well-known? I'm just wondering because I was fairly impressed with a water test I saw on youtube and was wondering what everybody thought of them.
From the projectile size would it be safe to (dare I say it) assume that you were listing .45 cal rounds?
The term "Undocumented Alien" is like calling a drug pusher an "Un-Licensed Pharmacist"
I guess the tester just didn't test that particular load. I have used CD and carry it in my .40. I just tested some Speer Gold Dot and am carrying them now. I think Hornady is a good round. I don't think you can go wrong using it.
I would have to assume as well. I don't know of another 230gr round out there unless its something like a .45lc or a light .454.
Don't retreat! Reload!!!
i just bought the glock 38 .45 gap. this is my first glock ever. i read some reviews and watched video after video of this gun being accurate as it can be. my problem is i loaded it down with american eagle ammo 185 gr and at 25 yds it shot like crap. all over the place. shooting high at most points aiming dead center at target at 25 yds. i am very disappointed at the performance of this gun. i shot a SIG 380 the same day at the same yards and it out preformed the glock 38 like it was a toy. i was embarrassed. has anyone else had this problem? is it just bad ammo and if it is, should have still held a better pattern. please let me know. thanks
The test was done with 45 ACP bullets and that was the ammo they chose, Hornady is a great choice and had been around for a long time. I look for penetration depth, expansion, and the biggest bullet because I live in Minnesota and 6 to 7 months of the year people wear multi layers of clothes and the more clothes the better penetration you need.

Just a thought related to the original post...has anyone ever thought/had concerns about your bullet penetrating _through_ the threat and either hitting an innocent bystander, or causing other collateral damage in a life threatening situation. I'm sure there's got to be others of you out there sharing these thoughts, and one of the quotes our CCW instructor used was that "once that bullet leaves the barrel, you _own_ it. Every round has a lawyer attached to it". I carry a Glock 30 with 230Gr. Speer gold dot hollow points. I see them in particular on the test as penetrating 13" and if my attacker was on the thinner side...I'd have to think twice if I was only 1-2 feet away from him/her. . .just pondering. . . any concurrent thoughts?
THIS IS MY GLOCK. THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT, BUT THIS ONE IS MINE.
"Every round has a lawyer attached to it" That's a good one...
Lots of thoughts on bullets penetrating people and walls... That's one of the main reasons for using JHP ammo inside a house... It's usually better to start a new thread with questions like this than to tack it on the the end of another post... People see the post and think it's the same post they already read and skip it...
