I agree. I use mostly .45acp calibers and its near impossible to activate the stock slide release. I am too cheap to buy one and have the capacity to fabricate my own, so I took mine out and built mine up with a tig welder and ground it into shape. Its a 1000 times better. The Gen 4s have the larger mag release. I don't see why they don't use the extended slide release too.
Don't retreat! Reload!!!
Some ppl prefer the stock ones. Not me ... but some ppl do.
If they put it on all Glocks then the after market folks would throw a hissy fit.
The term "Undocumented Alien" is like calling a drug pusher an "Un-Licensed Pharmacist"
I have a Glock 21sf and after I had a extended slide release put on the gun it went from night to day, I agree it should be a stock part on all Glocks. Cheers
Ill probably get flamed for this, but:
Its actually a "slide lock". The correct way to chamber a round, is by bringing the slide back, and letting it release forward. If your unable to do this (in a self defense situation), you can actually slam the bottom of the magazine, and the slide will release forward.

There's a link to a great Glock animation... It shows and labels (correctly!) all the parts of a Glock and also shows all the parts interacting during a firing session... Roll your cursor over the part names... You'll see the associated part pop up colored in red... Very helpful... It even depicts a reload... Worth a bookmark!
The "slide lock" is the small piece above the trigger opening that you pull down with your fingers when you field strip a Glock...
The "slide stop lever" is the lever you all are talking about...
I'm not pointing this out to hurt anyone's feelings... It helps us discuss Glock parts if we all use the same (correct) terminology...![]()
