has anyone noticed that newer glock gen 3s 19s, have gen 4 barrels? looks like they have modified the gen3 guide rods to work with gen4 barrels. theyve widened and thickened the rear part of gen3 guide rods to better fit gen4 barrels. am i alone in noticing this?
I've not noticed anything about the barrels, but I know that Glock is retrofitting many 4th gen parts into new 3rd gen pistols...
"While the anti-gunners seem very concerned about the "one life" that your firearm might take -- they are not very concerned about the lives it will save." Jon H. Gutmacher, Florida Firearms - Law, Use & Ownership.
my theory is they want to standardize the barrels for gen 3 and gen 4 .
I did not notice that. Are you thinking about asking Glock? That would be great information for G3 and G4 owners that may want to know.
I have not seen the widened Gen3 guide rod bases, but Gen4 barrels do have a wider crescent-shaped notch to fit the wider Gen4 guide rod base. I wouldn't be surprised if the newest Gen3's have "Gen4" barrels, but it would surprise me to hear that the newest Gen3 guide rod bases have been widened.
Could you post a picture comparing the old Gen3 guide rod base to the new wider Gen3 guide rod base?
