My neighbor, who is not a bad guy, but also kind of a BS'er wants to sell me his G22 .40 caliber Glock. He claims to have less than 200 rounds through it, but as a hunger, I find that hard to believe because I've got 50 rounds in a rented G19 and that took me an hour. Over the course of a year or so, I can't believe you didn't go shoot your new gun much.
I'm curious how to tell the difference between the generations. I see the new Gen 4s says Gen 4 on it. Plus I believe the gen 3 and 4 units have an accessory rail on them. He claims not to know what generation it is, but I find that a little hard to believe. But he does have a huge collection of guns and maybe he doesn't use it often and so he doesn't recall.
What would be a good price for a "used" G22? He offered it up for $650 with the gun, three magazines, 3 boxes of ammo and the blackhawk SERPA holster. But I can buy a new one for $500 so I think he's way overpriced but he now "wants to sell" it and I might be able to pick it up for a good price but need a baseline on what they may be worth.
Any thoughts from the team out here on what a good price is. I've seen the gun and it looked good visually but I didn't look specifically for an accessory rail to see if it was a gen 3 or not. I know it's not a gen 4.
There is a sticky in the GLOCK section that goes into great detail.

The "2011 Standard Catalog of Firearms" lists the G22 as follows:
NIB (New in Box): $525
Excellent: $475
Very Good: $350
Good: $300
Fair: $275
Poor: $175
That's for a Gen 3 or earlier pistol. They don't offer any different value information for Gen 4, but this book was published last year as the Gen 4 guns were being widely released.
Around these parts, a guide like this is what the gun dealers use to estimate price. Dealers will offer 70% of the book value for a used gun that they want to resell.
As for the other items, the gun comes with two magazines, sometimes three. If he has the original factory box it will indicate how many magazines came with the gun, and they are included in the price I've noted. For an extra magazine that is not brand new, I might offer 50% of retail.
For the ammo, depending on how old it is, I'd pay maybe 50% of the price on the box if I was able to inspect it and make sure that it was all the same as the markings on the ammo box. Remember, it's no good to him now unless he has other guns of the same caliber.
For the Serpa holster, I'd give no more than half current street retail price, which is $40. There is some discussion about the safety of the Serpa. I have several, I'm not taking sides, just mentioning that they are not without controversy.
If you can buy a new G22 for $500 you should do it.

If this is a GEN 2, it "may" be worth more money to YOU than $500.00. They don't make GEN 2 GLOCKS anymore so to "some" people, the value is worth more. $650.00 - no way. Not for me. $500.00 for USED GEN 3, no way - not for me.
How much it's worth is up to the buyer. OD GLOCKS aren't "worth" anymore than standard colored GLOCKS yet they sell for much higher than standard colored GLOCKS in most cases. It's all about what the buyer is willing to pay for it.

I agree as well $500 is a good price, as far as pricing on the holster they are around $50 new and $20 a box for ammo so total 60$ and a extra clip around $32 so that plus the pistol comes to $642 in comparison for a new pistol as compared to his used pistol at his price. As far as telling Generations apart the big thing on all the Generations 4 's is the adjustable back strap will tell you quickly that it is a Generation 4 and as someone else mentioned you can go to the website which is GLOCK | Perfection and see pictures to verify the different generations. I hope this helps and happy shooting.
Just buy a new one . They still sell Gen 3s as well as the Gen 4s.
Gen 2s are nice ,but not for 650.00.
As for round count 1 gun or a safe full of guns ,there are some people who just dont shoot that much.As a matter of fact i have a friend who got a new Gen 4 when they came out and to this day has only put 15 rounds through it.
Yes 15 rounds ,and its been like almost 2 years.![]()
Also if you can get a serial number send it to me via PM and I can give you exact information on the firearm.

Also if you can get a serial number send it to me via PM and I can give you exact information on the firearm. I would agree about the number of rounds fired. I find it scary the numbers of people who come to me to get concealed carry training and have never fired a round through the firearm they plan on carrying.

I bought this used Gen. II Glock 22 back in December for $299.99 + tax. It came with two magazines. I bought the used Glock Sport/Combat holster last summer for $5.00, just to try it out. I have purchased three spare mags, one for $20.00 and two for $10.00 each. I bought a grip cavity plug for $5.99 + tax. Without the holster, I have about $365.00 in the gun and mags and plug. I took the gun to Glock, Inc. two weeks ago for a free service. Two mags were replaced, two were rebuilt, the recoil spring assembly and various pins and springs were replaced for free. I plan on taking it back this week for Glock NS ($57.00) and to have the fifth mag replaced (non drop free). I will have right under $425.00 in the entire package. You can shop around and find deals. I am fortunate to live about 35 miles from Glock, Inc. so having pistols serviced is not that big of a deal.
