I finally had a chance to put my 30sf through its paces. Well actually, I made myself have the chance. I have been busy with school, and moved into the part of education where I am actually treating patients. (LOL, being 39 yrs old in school doesn't help either.) I needed to have some me time, so I took the day off from school, work, family, and friends to get some of that much needed "me" time. Anyway, I knew it was going to be a great day when I pulled into the range parking lot and noticed that I had it all to myself!!! I brought 450 rounds of ammo, with 300 of them being factory 230gr hardball from Federal and PMC. I had 50 rounds of Hornady Tap, 50 rounds of Federal HST, and 50 rounds of Wichester ranger. (All of the JHPs were 230gr)
Results: The 30sf is extremely accurate and reliable. (All groups were five shot groups at 15 yards.) I wished I brought a video camera, at 15 yards I managed a group that was under 2 inches with the Federal 230 hardball. The HST was almost as good with the best group being about 2.5 inches. The PMC bronze 230 gr ball and Winchester Ranger were almost identical with both groups averaging just a tad over 2.5 inches. The 30sf hated the TAP rounds. The best five shot group with TAP was 4.5 inches. Also, I noticed some inconsistency with Hornady TAP. (More than once I had noticeably lighter recoil.) I also found the 30sf to be extremely controllable. I was able to get my front sight back on target fairly fast and easy.
Reliability: I was hard on the 30 today. I would immediately reload and start shooting with no real rest. By the time I was finished I had an extremely hot and dirty firearm. I don't even know why I did it, I guess I was having so much fun that I couldn't help myself. I had zero failures. Everything worked as it should and beyond. I used 9, 10, and 13 round mags with no issues with any of them.
Bottom Line: I can honestly say, without any hesitation, this might be one of the best .45s on the market today when you consider the price. It is an extremely reliable, accurate, and tough handgun that out performs guns that cost twice as much. I highly recommend it. Frank.

Good review. I love my G30 as well. It is a heck of a gun that packs a pretty hard punch to boot.
Don't retreat! Reload!!!
Just out of curiosity, what trigger bar are they using in the G30SF these days? Mine is currently at the Glock armorer's bench with problems. I had the 4256-1- trigger it came with but didn't like the grooved trigger so I bought one for the G21(4256-1) and put it in. It did fine for months and now something went haywire so, I don't know if the TB had anything to do with it or not.
I have the 42561-1-....That is the latest trigger bar. I also believe that changing your trigger bar to the 4256-1 is the problem. The only time I heard of a 30sf having problems is with the older trigger bar. (At one point they came with the 4256-1 before they upgraded.) To make a long story short, they were trying to standardize everything between models. They learned their lesson though, and this problem has not affected the Gen 4s. However, like anything else. The older trigger bar did not effect all of the 30sf's. Hope that helps.

Looking back, I feel sure the TB I had was the one with a dimple on the cruxiform and no number. It was a grooved trigger and I replaced it with the 4256-1. I also have dug up a 4256-1- from my parts box...not sure where I got that one but it's here. I changed out the factory trigger because the grooves bothered my finger and another reason was because I went a little too gar in filing back the trigger safety to make it close to flush with the trigger itself and then it wouldn't actuate the safety so, I had to change it.
I'm still amazed that this pistol caused any problem at all in that early on with it I bragged on GT about how reliable it was last summer. However, I can't recall if that was before or after I changed the TB. Of course, I don't think the TB change had anything to do with the pistol chewing up the magazine and that I've yet to figure out. Hopefully the armorer will contact me soon about that as well.
