    Glock w/ ILS

    Hello,

Google tells me that Glock has an Integrated/Internal Locking System for Gen4. It is a security key lock that is mounted in the grip behind the magazine. I've even seen that you can supposedly get a weapon with a case that has a matching lock from them; one key unlocks case and pistol. But I can't find out how to buy either (just weapon, or the set). It seems like a special order deal if I can find someone that sells it.

    Is this just advertising fluff?
    Where can I buy one?
How much is the premium for this?

Anybody know of a dealer that has Glocks with the ILS? I'll take online or brick-and-mortar. I live in the DFW,Texas area and would love to check it out before I buy.

    Thanks in advance.

I can find no reference to this ILS on the Glock USA website, nor are there any parts listed for it in the Armorer's Manual U.S. Addendum. It is listed on the Glock Europe (I think that's what EU means in this context): GLOCK "Safe Action Pistols"

Based on that, I think your chances of getting these parts in the USA might be slim. Those with connections at Glock in Georgia might know more about a contact to get the ILS.

I agree, I find nothing in any of my manuals and info as well. Glock is currently selling in the U.S. a locking Glock case but no firearms with an internal lock.

It is an option, but the system must be special ordered and installed in Austria, or so I'm told. It's a factory installed option, not a dealer of distributor item.

I have no idea how long it would take to get a pistol so equipped... best to call the folks in Smyrna...

I called Smyrna, GA today, here are the results..

A human answered, I was redirected, spent less than 5 min on hold and got another nice young woman with all the answers; so far so good.

They do the ILS "rarely" since it can "take up to a year". It is a factory special order frame made only in Austria. It can take this long because there is some refitting of molds etc on the production line. They cannot stop the line for a single weapon and so wait until they can fit it in to the production schedule. She mentioned that for example GA alone has about 500K pistols on order. Personally I understand not making that many people wait for my special order.

How to get one... Regular consumers need to place the order with their local dealer who then places it with the distributer then it goes to Smyrna and finally Austria.

The final price is set by the dealer, but she estimated that it could be about $30 added to the price of the weapon and box each. Just $30 more to the retail price of the pistol itself is a great price, but waiting up to a year is a real downer. If they were side-by-side on the shelf at the Bass Pro Shop I'd already own it! You can order extra/replacement keys from Glock for $30 (+ tax & shipping) each; they take 120 days direct from Austria. If you lose the two keys that came with the weapon then you will need to provide proof like the original purchase receipt, key #, serial #, and ID.

I'd happily pay the premium if I could pick it up this week and I'd order extra keys since it can't be drilled or cut off like a aftermarket trigger lock. The ILS has an advantage over them in that it can't be lost, the weapon can't be disassembled or fired. Sure that can be accomplished with regular trigger locks and cables. You can still rack the slide and unload it. There are trade-offs there and personally like the ILS. I could carry it on my person and if I had to check it at a building I need nothing more than my keychain to secure it.

If someone on Glock.Pro is a dealer and has some in stock please hit me up.

What is your specific interest in this? My only experience with gun locks is with S&W revolvers and with those, the same gun without a frame lock is generally much more desireable then the version with a lock. Generally, the thinking is that it is a solution without a problem.

I'm looking to buy. I see what you are saying, the classic trigger locks and cables do the trick just fine. Personally I like the integration, but I won't wait a year for it.
