I don't know if it meets the definition of "rare", but this a is a very early import G17 that belongs to a friend of mine. By very early I mean sometime in the second year of importation.

I kind of think this was a bad premise for a picture thread. Rare Glocks look like all the other Glocks. I might as well pull one of mine out of the safe, paint it pink & purple & look at it.

Yeah, I don't think there are many 18c's out in the civilian world...

I hope this thread isn't too old to respond to,but I recently acquired a G17 from Aimsurplus and did a grip chop so it would accept G19 magazines, and a reduction to fit my hand better.I also rounded the trigger guard just because I felt like it,and stippled the grip for more traction. While I was at it I also polished the trigger bar,and safety plunger.I also installed an extended slide release and Lone Wolf connector.I have a set of the XS big dot sights on they way.

yep, glock hand cut the g17 length grip down to g19 length on those. i read they only made about a down for a federal LE contract trial though. who knows lol

glock also made thumb safety models for the tasmanian police only:

Glock has manufactured a number of Glock 17 pistols fitted with an external, 1911-style, manual safety. The pistols were made at the request of the Tasmanian Police force. The actual number of pistols produced, date of manufacture and other details are not known.

Thanks! I did all the work myself so the pride of accomplishment and ownership is pretty high with this one.Not to mention that I saved myself probably close to $300 in custom work.I'm a 1911 guy at heart so the manual safety would be nice, but I can live without it.The grip angle/circumference on the other hand just doesn't point well for me,so I fixed it.I love the Glock simplicity and reliability, and they are too hard to ignore.I've owned 2 G23's and a G30 in the past, and probably wouldn't have sold them if I knew how easy the grip is to change.
