    Glock 22 Gen 4 Holsters

    Hey guys,

Does anyone have advice on a good concealed carry holster for my Glock 22, I may have to import one as they are a bit limited here
in SA. Am looking for one that's not going to cause wear and tare on the slide.

    Any suggestions welcome............

    Cheers...........

It will probably be hard to find a holster that's not going to cause some degree of wear on your gun. It didn't take but a few months of EDC to notice holster wear to mine. I'm guessing a quality leather holster would be less abrasive than a kydex. Galco and desantis make some quality holsters for a reasonable price, you might check them out. I prefer Crossbreeds super tuck for EDC, very comfortable and easily conceals. With a full size glock like the G22 I'm not exactly sure what options are out there, I've never tried carrying a large frame.

    Thanks Kevo,

Am not too worried about carrying the large frame size as I am not a small guy (6 foot 3 inches, 120kg around 260 lbs), the 22 was the only gun that fitted my hand properly, I will check out you suggestions though.....

Pretty much any holster will cause wear to show at some point. I have found that leather seems to wear larger areas over time but if dirt or debri gets into a kydex holster, and the firearm is inserted, it will more easily scratch the finish since the kydex has no give.

I have found that leather holsters mainly cause wear to the sights. I use a deSantus Tuck holster more than any of my others and there has been no wear to the slide but I have had to "re-blue" my front Trijicon front sight several times. I also use a Blackhawk retention when teaching or on range days. I have used it enough that I started looking for any signs of wear and found none to any part of the slide. I can only detect a very small area on the trigger guard where the firearm "latches" and that is it. I have stayed away from kydex because of the many tales of "holster rash" I have seen on customers guns or that have been reported to me. Since you are looking for conceal carry I would suggest leather and there are also several manufacturers that incorporate sight channels to reduce the wear to front sights. My only suggestion to you is don't expect one holster to fit all your concealed carry needs. Pick the holster that works with what you are wearing and don't dress to make the holster work. Be SAFE.....Shoot WELL

Thanks very much Oklahoma, as I am a first time gun owner your advice is very helpful.

This is however not the first time I have been in contact with firearms though, my dad shot competetively when I was a kid hence I spent a lot of my childhood at the range with my him...............I have many fond memories of him loading up his Browning High Power or .22 Long for me to fire off a couple of rounds once the range had cleared out for the day.

He used to shoot Olympic Rapid Fire as well as a bit of Combat and long distance, over 100 an 200 meters.......so am pretty used to being around guns. I recall at one stage he had around 9 Guns in his name, a Browning High Power with custom grip, a .22 Long again with custom molded grips, a 357 Magnum which he carried, a colt 38 special and a 9mm para but to name few...
