I tend to leave the honkin heavy bullet handloads to my 20sf. It seems that I get quicker follow up shots and better accuracy with 135 gr Nosler JHP'S with my 29sf. It is not the recoil of the heavies in the 29 , its just better feel for me when carrying. So when you are out and about with your G29 which load are you comfortable with.

For 10mm and 40 cal I've always like the 165gr HP bullets. Enough weight but still light enough to move out at a pretty decent velocity. I know a lot of folks like the 150-155gr bullets and some swear by the heavier 180's but 165gr just seems "right" for this caliber IMHO.

I tend to prefer 185gr in my G20SF. I am a believer it is up to the shooter to train more instead of trying to find equipment or software that suites one's ability. Shoot more, worry less. The 185gr. shoots flat, fast and consistent. The more you shoot the better you will get. I like the round and feel that I am not as good at the weapon or round.

Did you mean 180gr?? I've never heard of a 185gr in the 10mm/40cal. Now in the 45 cal there's a 185gr. I think a 180 can be used effectively in 10mm but IMHO it's a bit heavy for the 40S&W even though the 40 is the ballistic twin of the old 38/40 WCF, a very popular Ctg. at the turn of the Century(think 1890's) with law enforcement. Kind of let's you see that the more things change the more they stay the same.

I have a G20 but if I go into the woods I like to carry my 40 super which has the same ballistics as a 44 magnum shot with a revolver, about 1000 ft/lbs energy and 1600 ft/sec, massive power for a semi-auto pistol.
