Glock 42/43 Slide Stop Lever Removal

I just got a new G43 and wanted to change out the slide stop and install a tactical one. I can't get the pin to budge even with a few whacks with a hammer and punch. Never had this problem before. I have used and modified Glocks for over 20 years. Have Gen 2 & Gen 3. Any suggestions?

Reach inside the frame and push the arm of the slide stop lever down, this will align the pin and the hole in the lever. The pin will push out with minimal force.

Actually, I had a brain fart Push down on the arm of the lever.

Sorry about the confusion it wasn't until I reread my post in the e-mail that it registered I wrote it wrong. I'll correct the original post as well.

Still no luck. I'm afraid of damaging the gun.

First thing, PUT DOWN the hammer. You NEVER need a hammer to work on a Glock. I suspect there is a youtube video on the G43 by now, check it out.

    Let's try this:

The G42 and 43 have a redesigned Slide Stop Lever. The lever itself aligns with the notch on the pin. The spring built into the lever causes upward pressure which causes the edge of the lever to sit up in the pin notch. This is why a hammer won't work, the lever is inside the edge of the notch.

To release the pin, you need to get the hole properly aligned. To do this push down on the arm of the lever, the further up the arm you can push the easier it is. NOTE: Pushing the lever all the way down is too far, the top of the hole then catches the top of the notch.

Apply a very small amount of pressure to the pin with the armorer's tool while pushing down on the slide stop lever, the pin will come out easily when the hole is properly aligned.

Excellent illustration with instructions. Good to see that there is a different design in the slide stop lever.
