RSA (Recoil Spring Assembly) hits barrel when slide is slid back all the way

Has anyone had this problem? When the slide comes back, the RSA does not come through the hole in the slide centered to the hole just under the barrel. I also have to shoot 124 grain ammo because Glock will not send me a new RSA with a 15 lb. spring instead of the factory 17 lb. spring. I have tried a Lone Wolf Stainless Steel RSA with a 15 lb. spring and it shoots 115 grain ammo with no problem. My 17L is still under warranty and I don't want to void the warranty by using the Lone Wolf RSA.

It appears that the RSA is slightly moving up off of its seated position on the barrel. This in turn is causing the RSA to not be aligned perfectly as it comes through the hole underneath the barrel. The guide rod actually hits the hole and does not allow the slide to come all the way back. See picture. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I'm on a cellular connection that can't pull up your photo. But I do want to make a clarifying point for you reguarding where the RSA sits when the gun is assembled. Placing it on the barrel is only for the purpose of assembling the gun. The RSA does not stay connected to the barrel, it actually sits against the frame of the gun just in front of the slide lock lever. It works between the slide and the frame.

Have you checked to ensure the ring on the slide is perfectly straight? If you take the slide off and stand it on it's nose, the slide and the ring should both be flush with the surface.

I would not be concerned with the warranty issues of changing the RSA, lots of wiggle room if you do have a problem and have to send it back to Glock for something ...

Do you have the same issue when you reinstall the original RSA? From the image it looks like you're using an aftermarket assembly. I don't have any 9mm to look at, but when I looked at my G22 the end of the rod is slightly bigger than the diameter of the rod. IOW it self centers itself upon the slide returning to it's closed position. My RSA is original. Whenever I have an issue like your's I try to take everything back to the original design/parts and then isolate the part or subassembly. It may not be the "weight" of the spring that's at fault.

My Gen3's are similar. Having said, the space between the end of the rod and the slide on the OP's image looks to to me like something is missing. As an example, Brass Stacker makes a RSA ... but the Gen4 requires and adapter. Is it possible that the OP has the correct RSA, but there's something missing. I've included the image that I'm referring to:

What parts are we discussing ?

Frank is a simple machine for doing a simple job and I have no inclination to change anything as he is very reliable and consistent as is.

PM me a list of goodies you have and I will be glad to look it over, never been one to take something I do not need, but, thankx for the offer.

I don't want you to change a part and worry about it. I don't believe you would gain any improvement, I was just suggesting with a Gen4 part you could claim Frank was all 4 Gens. We could put a Gen4 trigger bar in or perhaps a dot connector if you want the trigger pull a little lighter. Those are probably the only ones I'd suggest considering. I guess technically, if you used a Gen4 magazine you could claim all 4

I like the idea of having a Gen 1234 !

I need to look, when I replaced the black internals I am not sure which connector I got, who is against a lighter trigger ?
