Plastic G23,27 plastic fixed front sight, rear sight notch: width?

I have a G23 and G27 with stock plastic sights. Does anyone know the width of the front sight and the width of the notch in the rear sight?

I don't have a pair of calipers and I found varying answers in a search. Some people say the rear sight notch is .140, some say .156. The front sight also came up with answers from .150 to .165.

The main thing I want to know is the difference in width between the two. As it is, the front sight pretty much fills the whole notch and I'd like a to get some Ameriglo's with a little more space on either side of the front sight for quicker sight alignment.

The G17,19,22,24,26,33,34,35,37,38, and 39 all share the same plastic fixed sights as far as I know.

I just checked the GLOCK Parts list and unfortunately it doesn't list the specs on the std sights.

I do recall the front pretty much fills up the rear notch and am guessing they are both .140 or front is .140 and rear is .156. I wouldn't swear by that though.

If you want a good gap go with the Pro Operators. IIRC the front on that is .125 and the rear is .180. That leaves a lot of daylight and I like it. However, my absolute favorite is the ProGlo up front and a plain black wide notch rear. The ProGlo is .140 and the wide notch rears are .180. You can get a rear NS with dots though at .180.

Standard new plastic Glock front sight measures .1478 inches wide on a Starrett Electronic caliper. I get some variation among a few sights, out to .1490".

Standard new plastic Glock rear sight notch measures .1330-.1340 inches wide on the same instrument, but it's a little trickier to measure. The caliper was in the (cold) garage, as it warms up the measurements vary a little.

Yep, the rear is narrower than the front. By moving the front forward, away from the rear, it appears smaller in perspective. So the sight picture depends, to some degree, on the length of the sight radius, or the slide length.

I wish my rear site notch was a little deeper. The width seems ok, but it seems to me that when I have the dot of the front site centered on the rear vertically, the bottom of the front site dot is blocked by the little bit of the rear site that is not painted white. It looks like a car tire that is low on air.
I considered filing down the bottom of the rear notch just a little, but am leary of taking a file to a brand new gun.
