I am wondering if there is a reduction, or change, in muzzel velocity and energy when using a G19c vs. a G19?
It seems to me that it makes sense there would be, but I've not been able to find definitive information regarding this question.

There are a couple threads to get you started.

If you are looking at the Glock 19 for a self defense gun, don't get the compensated model. Proper concealed carry techniques teach shooting close to the body and a compensated pistol emits hot gas that could injure the shooter. Plus, at night you's be blinded.
False....

+1, compensated doesn't really emit more muzzle flash than any other non ported weapon. I guess you could singe you eyebrows if you held your forehead to the barrel while firing.
I was interest in getting a ported barrel for my 19 and got a chance to shoot a 19 and a 19c at night, and I couldn't tell any difference.

You're right. I think he meant false regarding the muzzle flash. That is a hotly debated topic, but ultimately the different direction of the muzzle flash is not likely to make a huge difference in your vision.
However the hot gases can most certainly burn you if fired up close. I've seen them burn things a couple feet above them when fired.

I said False, as in all around comment. The muzzle flash blinding you is internet rumor. I have had or still own both models and have shot them side bu side, in daylight and darkness. There are no issues. The hot gases burning a shooter in close quarters fire or firing from retention is of no concern to me if I am shooting my weapon in self defense. My M4 barrel gets hotter than heck after shooting it, and if I was to transition to pistol, I might burn my side, leg or arm on the AR but that doesn't mean I'm not going to use it for self defense.
Regardless of any of that, my only other comment on the 19C versus the 19 is I don't see much reason to have one unless one just wants to own it for the "different" factor. The 9mm recoil is so tame, I couldn't tell any noticeable difference when shooting them side by side. So with that said, I wouldn't take a 19C OVER a standard 19.

I have both and can tell you it's very hard to tell a difference. I agree that whole muzzle flash blinding you is a myth. Don't even know how it got started.
If I were to really split hairs, the 19C has a bit more of the hot gasses going upwards....kinda like my a AR's muzzle brakes.
