Hi, new to this forum and have a problem with a Glock ejecting backward.
My wife’s Glock 19 suddenly developed a bad ejecting habit. It now ejects the shell backward and yesterday she got hit in the head a number of times, one shell got caught in her safety glasses and burned her eye brow. I shot about 8 rounds and one shell hit the top of my head. Now she is afraid to shoot it.
Has anyone experienced this? The gun is about 6 years old and never did this before. Any thoughts on this would be welcome, because unless we can get it to stop ejecting straight back, I’m afraid it’s going to be replaced. Thanks in advance for your help.
welcome my friend.
my current g19 did this, as well as my old one. weak ammo like federal champion at walmart exacerbates the problem. weak wristing can as well. i put in a new ejector/trigger mechanism housing and no shells to the face in 50 rounds so far. might work for you too.
fact is, you can cover all your bases and still catch brass in the face from the g19. just part of the mystique i guess. odd thing is, some folks never experience this with their g19's. variations of manufacture i guess.
try the things i mentioned, i'm sure they'll at least reduce the frequency.![]()
Thank you, as it happens, the wife was using the Walmart brand Federal Champion. I will be off to the range today with Winchester White Box, Federal American Eagle and what's left (less than 50 rounds) of the Federal Champion. I'll post results later.
I used to use Winchester White Box in my 3rd Gen 19 and don't remember having any issues like that with it..
Welcome to the site btw - i'm also in Bucks County..
sounds like it could be a very weak grip .. also .. change out the ejector and see if that fixes it.

I just returned from the range with the Glock 19. After I cleaned the gun at home, I shot 20 rounds of WWB. Instead of looking through the sights at the target, I aimed the gun at the target and looked slightly to my right to see where the shells were ejecting. Then I shot 50 rounds of the Federal Champion. I again peeked to my right and I'm pretty sure the WWB shells were ejecting more forward than the Federal Champion was. I didn't experience any ejections to my face. Maybe it is the Federal Champion ammo that ejects poorly. In any case I'm not going to puchase any more Federal Champion.

federal champion is the only one i buy for my g19 only because it's the cheapest walmart has. i still use it, never had any probs but the occasional shell to the face. i have experienced shells to the face with all brands off ammo, including WWB, so i just stick with the cheapest one. champion is good quality stuff, it's just loaded slightly weaker than WWB.
I don't think my wife liked the shells burning her face and she insists that she was holding the gun tight. I will not even suggest otherwise. It never happened to her in the 5 or 6 years she's been shooting the gun (with Federal American Eagle and WWB) so I don't think I will even suggest she uses the two remaining boxes (100 rounds). In fact there would be no point in me telling her we have any Federal Champions left. However I do appreciate your input. I do hope that ammo becomes easier to find and a bit less money.

yeah i can understand that. i got yelled at by a date that i took to the range that caught a couple champion shells to the face lol. too bad the WWB price jumped, used to be a $9/box about 2 years ago. that's all i used to use.
also, winchester NATO 9mm FMJ has been redilly available in my area for a whlie now, $13.99/box. loaded hotter than american range ammo. good stuff to try out![]()
