    Hello from MA

    Hello all,

The name is Sean & I'm new to the forum & hopefully soon will be new to owning a Glock. I've been thumbing around the site and I have found plenty of useful information. I believe my pistol of choice will be either the G29 or G30 due to them being so compact. I keep hearing that its very tough to get a Glock where I live something to do with certain years anything before 1998? I guess in other words I couldn't order a brand new Glock? This Newby needs to be enlightened on these regulations.
I think it sucks that criminals can get any gun they want yet law abiding citizens & even Police officers has to go through so much bull to get a capable weapon for protection.

    Thanks for your time

Welcome to the Forum.... I did a cursory search regarding Mass Glock regs and came to the conclusion that "You are screwed!" Here's a link to a shop that finds and refurbishes Glocks for sale in Mass... Hard to believe that the laws are so different from state to state.

Thanks guys for the feedback, yeah I guess I am screwed on this one but I will try to find a Glock in great condition. Mass seems to be famous for some laws that don't make any sense..lol I guess I can always get a used one & modify it

It seems that there are sellers there that specialize in finding and selling "compliant" Glocks.... It would be tempting to go a different route, I'm sure. But, Glocks are notoriously durable, and if you can find a compliant example, you should be able to make it last longer than you will for not much money in replacement parts and Glocks are simple enough, you'll be able to do all the work yourself.

There is an "original" Glock G17 at the Austrian factory that has something like 350,000 rounds through it and it's still fired regularly! That's somewhere around $75,000 in ammo! So, a 1998 example is certainly not "too old"....

wow!! that definitely says these things just keep on shooting good info. I fell in love with Glocks the first time I saw one so although getting a Sig or Ruger is tempting they just don't have the same appeal to me.

    Hi Sean,

Welcome to the forum. I'm in NH and as far as gun regulation laws we are polar opposites. You can do some internet search and find out a lot of what is allowed and what is not in MA, but in simple words, if I lived in MA, I would probably look for a new MA compliant weapon. You may be able to find a MA compliant Glock but it will be "vintage", the round count will probably be high, and it will still cost you as much as a new weapon (if not more). In your situation I would personally be more inclined to look for a S&W M&P w/ thumb safety.

The easy solution is to cross the border North into NH and leave Taxaschussets!

Best fo luck in your search.

Very true neighbor that's why I luv NH.. However I've always been a Glock fan so it's time I actually own one it doesn't seem like much difference between the old & new visually besides the accessory rail. I think Glock also went with a dual recoil spring now. I would luck out to find a 3rd generation whatever the case I'll try to find a good example of one
