Hi,
After months of thinking about it, wondering what to get, and visits to the candy store, Last weekend I bought a G27 Gen4. Last night I shot a hundred rounds and managed to get 83 in the 6" circles, about half at 21' and half at 15'. Without coaching I'm learning to close my left eye, breath easy and not let the .45 cannon fire in the lane next to me be intimidating, realize that adrenaline takes time to wear out (never fired anything bigger than my .38 special or an auto bigger than a .22) and that a loose grip means the slide won't close, and so on. That hundred rounds went fast, and I'm eager to do it again and work on improving things.
I got the G27 for the motorcycle camping in the north woods I'm hoping to do a lot of. Hearing others comment on bear and wolf nocturnal visits had me wanting something more appropriate than the nickel Colt Detective Special. I started looking at very compact .380's and then 9's then actually held them and the G27, rather like Goldilocks's "just right", I found my weapon! I know you all will iikely think it is dumb, but it took a long path with lots of thought to get here.
I'll soon be enrolling in the multistate carry class and hope to fire off a couple hundred more rounds so I don't look all shakey and nervous like I did yesterday. I chuckled thinking of Don Knot's Barney Fife when Andy would give him a bullet! That ought to give you a clue to my age.
Thanks in advance for any and all answers you give to the questions I’m sure to have. I'm grateful there's forums for the open exchange of information.

Good choice on the Glock 27!

Welcome to the forum from another Minnesotan. Congratulations on your Glock 27 and happy shooting.
I had a blast at Bill's in Robinsdale last week. A hundred rounds went quickly, too quickly. I'm looking forward to frequent practise and improvement. I did better than I expected but there's lots to improve. It was difficult to see the black sites in the dim light, and with pupils dilated in the dim, the depth of field wasn't so great. Like I need new glasses. Nite sites wijl be the likely next purchase. Carry class soon too.
I chose the 27 for carry while hiking, camping, motorcycling. I might get the 9mm conversion barrel so I can spend less and shoot more. PM me if you know of a range with cheaper fees and perhaps membership so I can shoot more often. I could get to like it!

Be safe and always plan for that gun in the back of your head when walking out of the store. Be safe. Be prepared.
