hi from tennessee, looking for help!

i just purchased my first Glock 38 .45 GAP, and was very let down at its performance. i shot it at 20-25 yards using american eagle 185 grain and aiming dead on it would not even hit the target. they where like shooting high most of the time, but watching videos and reading reviews, this gun should be freaking awsome at that range right? i shot a SIG 380 at the same range and it made my g38 look horrible. could it be crap ammo? any suggestions? i have heard so much about Glocks performance and now i got one i am kind of confused.

If it was shooting high most of the time, where was it hitting the other times?

Don't take this the wrong way, because I am not implying anything. Have you shot a. 45 before. The 38 has a lot more recoil than a. 380? I wonder if it may be a case of a loose grip or a light stance that may be causing a little uncontrolled muzzle rize. I would try changing your stance perhaps and tighten your grip with both thumbs pointing forward. Another suggestion is to have one of the guys at your range that is a frequent shooter to shoot a few rounds with it to see if its you or the gun.

what part of TN? Im over in the Knox area. Ive been renting the Glock36 at my local range and im very much in love with .45acp now. Dead on accurate at 15-18 yds. Hard to tell actual distance at this range for crap lighting and no markers.
This is my Glock. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

Be more than happy to help with your problem. The .45 GAP is an excellent round but it's recoil leaves something to be desired. If I may ask a few questions it would help. Not knowing your shooting history I will just have to guess that you know your way around them. Were you using a single hand or two hand grip? If two hand was it the "cup and saucer" grip or overlapping grip? How tightly are you gripping? Is your wrist locked or loose? Lastly can you advise your sight picture and if you were firing each round with a complete trigger pull or were you taking advantage of the trigger reset position? You will find lots of helpful information and people here so let us know.

You should have no issues with the 45 GAP round. Try starting at a closer range to get a feel for the firearm and see where it's hitting at that point. Let us know.

    +1... What Law said...

If you can't hit the target at 25 yards, try moving down to 10 or 15 yards... See where you're hitting the target there...
