I guess I need to go ahead and bite the bullet and get me a 870. It was a choice between the 870 and Mossy 590 Tactical. I choose the tactical because it's the only 12ga that fully pased the Armies testing standards, and I like the control's location better; more user friendly to me.

Mine has a 18" barrel, dam things kicks the jell out of me LOL. But, 9+1 (+4) in the stock.....neat shotgun for sure. And I can replace the extractor myself rather than a gunsmith having to if that ever came up. 870's require smith to replace.

The Benelli, in a high stress shit-she-a tion, I think, without much training on the shotgun, would get me in trouble, since I'm not use to how they work.

I'm not a big fan of long guns in the house for HD. Just me, but I depend on a pistol for HD.

It's a semi-auto - safety off: pull trigger - bang; pull trigger again - bang; pull trigger again - bang

With the Benelli M4, I can pull the trigger fast enough to get 7 shots off (and on target) before the first husk hits the ground. Talk about stress relief!

I was watching a vid about the Benelli.....seems like it was more involved.....and I think it was a pump???? Maybe I'm confusing it with another. It was on one of the popular youtube vids.....Nutnfancy?? I think it was in one of his series.....

There's a G19 by the bed too simply because the time it takes to retrieve the shotgun is longer. But if I had the time, I would always choose a long gun in a fight and a shotgun in a close quarters fight.

The idea to put one in the closet (walk-in on the far side of the master bathroom) was I thought it would be where my wife would naturally run to if there was trouble and it's where I want her to be so I know where she is. I put the shotgun in there to ensure any issues were settled immediately (handguns just aren't that great at stopping).

Problem came one night when someone kicked the front door hard! I yelled at her to wake up, grabbed my pistol and moved through the bedroom door to see what happened. The door had held but when I turned around my wife was standing behind me with a pistol in her hand. I asked what she was doing (a little stressed) and she replied "checking on you" I think we're now clear on why she needs to be where she's supposed to be
