Army picks Sig Sauer for their new pistol.

I feel it's a mistake but I might be biased.

I hope it doesn't turn out to be BOHICA.

This decision was a surprise to me. There was an article not too long ago that the Army Rangers selected the G19. Seems odd they'd go a different direction after that.

And an article late last year had the Marines picking the G19. I wonder if Congress will force commonality beyond just caliber?
I hope not, I'm really looking forward to owning both a 17 and 19 M pistols.

I always knew the Army was not very smart. Must have greased a few Generals....LOL

All those parts they have to stock to rebuild one.

What happened to the Marines getting those customized 1911's?

I wouldn't read anything into this. Military gun selection is based on politics and cost per unit over years. Far more than it is on getting the best gun. Let's face it, the Beretta 92 FS / M-9 is an OK gun. But does anyone really believe it is the absolute best 9 MM on the market? It's no different with this Sig.
I don't need my AR-15 "Assault Rifle" any more than Rosa Parks needed to sit in the front of the bus.

This is true. If we followed the trials, both the Glock and the Sig passed with flying colors. The Army claims part of the decision was the modularity of the Sig, which may be somewhat true, but the almighty dollar was really the deciding factor.

Yeah, besides, SIG still had to modify the model by adding a safety lever....Glock could have done that for them on a contract basis for sure. The only thing that the SIG has over the Glock is that the Army probably will order thousands of the trigger modules, then just slap them in.
