Anyone have any experience with the Ruger LCRs? I'm tempted to pick one up in .357 as a back up gun (although I'd probably run .38 special through it 99% of the time).
Had one in 38 got rid of it when the 357 came out and got it. Over all not a bad gun. The trigger pull could be better but otherwise not a bad gun. What would you like to know about them?
How's the recoil with .357 and .38 special? My experience with .357 is entirely with my buddy's GP100 with a 6" barrel, so it really doesn't tell me much about how it's going to feel in a much smaller package. I like to familiarize my with any weapon over a few hundred rounds (if not thousands) - I've heard mixed things about how the recoil feels on the LCR. For the most part, I can manage with a GP100, but I always have the option of shooting the GP100 in single action.
I don't think recoil is that bad at all. Something most people really don't understand about short barrel pistols is the recoil with them is normally less than the longer barrel pistols. This is due to the amount of powder burnt. Unless you have a fast burning powder charge made for short barrel pistols you don't get as much burnt as with longer barrels. This reduces felt recoil.
On the other side of the coin others will argue that the longer barrel adds weight making up for it. It does to a extent IMO. But I still don't think that a short barrel pistol recoils as hard as a longer one.
