I am curious what people think about adding grip tape on to the grip of their pistol or rifle. Pros, cons, general comments, thoughts and even pics.
I saw those threads, the first one was the one that I got the most from, but I didn't really see what I wanted to find out. For example I read that they some grips get worn out, when removing them does it leave behind crap from the tape? Why do you use grips? Competition, CCW, LE... Why people love or hate adding grip?
I've used stair tread tape, Talon, TruGrip, and Decal Grip. None have left behind any residue. Yes they will all wear out. Even worn, they all provide a better grip surface than the plain GLOCK.
Why use them? Extra traction when wet, sweaty, bloody, ect.
Some hate the "sand paper" grips or the GLOCK RTF2 texture because they have "girly" hands.
I have seen that people who make their own grips have used skateboard grip tape, ladder tape in addition to other products. For the DIY people what is your preferred material? Favorite Brand? Pros, Cons?
mvician nailed it with his previous posts.
As far as makiing your own .... I have used both ladder tape and skateboard tape. Of the two I found skateboard tape to be smaller grain/grit and thus preferred. It is also easier to cut as it is thinner.
I only use the grit tape on my competition gun (mostly IDPA). It's dang hot in GA right about now and this sure helps me stick the gun.
