I love my son in law like he was my own son. He and my youngest daughter are raising two boys. I know how it is to raise to kids.
I've been doing everything I can to help him. I plan on getting him an NRA membership next month once I get past the Christmas gifts and his birthday presents to aid him in his steps towards trying to get on full time with the Dept. He's got a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, he missed his Masters by 1 class. Now he's just waiting for an opening for full time. He couldn't afford to go back to college he needed to go to work full time, my daughter was having their second child.
He's a 7 star reserve, that meaning he's taken all the classes the full time deputy's have taken and holds a state certification. When another LEO see's hes a 7 star and not a 5 star they know they can trust him like they would any other officer, I'm very proud of him!
I think you'll find most of us are NRA members... The NRA still spams, but their fight for our gun rights alone is worth the membership price...

Yep, I'm good until April 2015. Just renewed for three more years. I do get tired of them begging for more money, more money but I honestly believe that it's the best thing we've got going us. Four more years of Mr. O and we'll be begging them to take our money.
Yes, I am a member in good standing order, if we didn't have the NRA our 2ND amenment rights would be taken away by Obama, you have to look at the big picture, they are protecting our right to bear arms, without them obama will take our rights and guns from us.
I'm the NRA and I vote !

I've been a member for about 10 years. I renew my membership yearly. I thought about getting a lifetime membership but opted to continue to pay annually. Why do I do this? If I pay them for life - they have no reason to continue to represent me. I feel as though my yearly membership tells them that, so long as they continue to represent me, I will continue to be a member. I used to get annoyed by the junk mail, spam, telephone calls, but after telling them to take me off the list, I haven't had any problems. I do think the magazine has become more and more political, and even more advertising friendly (e.g., gun of the year based on the amount of advertising revenue generated, etc.). However, I still read it.
Interesting call on the lifetime NRA membership... I've thought about it as well, but never considered your reasoning... Interesting!

For the 5+ year people, I believe this last issue of American Rifleman has the voting packet in it. Be sure to vote !
