Spf 30 will def not be enough. Its an arc induced furnace. We make silicon metal thats 99.3% pure after our refining process. Some of it is chemical grade and some of it is steel grade. Basically you put coal, charcoal, woodchips and silicon gravel in the furnace amd heat it up to around 3000 degrees F and that causes a chemical reaction and the result is silicon metal.
