Now it's the SSA buying ammunition.

First it was the DHS, then the NOAA and now the SSA is buying large amounts of JHP ammunition.

Maybe it's an investment. The price of ammo seems to be rising faster than anything else!

None of the above and I would jump on the wagon if I didn't know differently. The RFP (Request For Purchase) is very normal especially at this time of year. On Sept. 1 the Governments new fiscal year starts and in the government if you don't use the funds then you lose the funds. Hence the reason the time deadlines on all these purchases. What we have here is a failure to communicate.......er wait, that is a movie. What we have here is reporter thinking they have a scoop and not doing their homework. Each of those agencies have a law enforcement section and unlike us Federal officers are required to practice with the same rounds they carry. Think about it, how many times have you been practicing with cheap rounds or reloads and then change over to fire a few of the real thing. Both you and your gun react differently and that is not a good thing when the defication is striking the rotary oscillator. I hate the idiot that is in the White House but this time it ain't him.

the gov fical year starts Oct not Sept unless they changed it but I doubt it, The purchase 174,000 rounds .357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point bullets has nothing to do with the surplus; use it lose it funds. This is the first time the SSA has ever bought ammo and they are using tax payers SS money..... why? The SSA have no weapons nor do SSA personal carry weapons. The gov has told the 4 main banks to prepare for economic collapse. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has put out a contract for 46,000 rounds of hollow point bullets along with 500 paper targets. Back in March, Homeland Security purchased 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets. This was followed by another DHS solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls. The DHS recently put out an order for riot gear in preparation for the upcoming DNC, RNC and presidential inauguration, the purchase of ammunition in such massive numbers has stoked fears that the federal government could be preparing to use force against the American people and also has an open bid for up to 175 million rounds of .233 caliber ammo.

Yep, your right, the fiscal year does start Oct. 1. It's been a while since I retired and had to do those budgets.

I doubt that the Social Security Administration is going to use force against Americans. That would require someone in that department to actually do something!

174,000 "bullets" divided by 295 armed SSA Officers equals 589.8 bullets per Officer. Less than many people use at 1 or 2 typical range session or one good training class. 295 Armed SSA Officers divided across 50 states is 5.9 Officers per state, with a SSA Office in pretty much every decent sized city. This isn't an arming of individuals that are going to take away our freedoms.

I recently had to do some work for the Border Patrol. Now obviously everyone knows that Border Patrol Agents securing our borders need to be armed however the work I was doing was at Postal Mail sorting facilities, where they inspected mail pieces and boxes coming into the country. I personally worked at 5 locations and there were many more on our contract across the country. At each of the 5 locations I worked at, there were an average of 40-50 Border Patrol Officers working, everyone of them armed. Speaking with them, they had to qualify 4 times a year, once a quarter. I didn't ask how many rounds per qualification/practice for qualification. So here we have a large group of individuals that look at white envelopes and brown boxes all day that shoot countless rounds of ammo at least 4 times per year plus practice rounds. These, if I'm not mistaken, fall into the large amount of ammo purchased by Homeland Security.

I don't stick my head in the sand and pretend that civil liberties aren't being stripped, or at least attempting to strip them away but this sky is falling nonsense gets old, quickly. Of course these are my personal beliefs and not a stance of Glock.Pro. No one has broken any rules here discussing this so please don't think I am trying to stifle conversation. Just take a second to research information you read, and look to validate it against other sources before taking what is read on the internet as gospel. It's also a good idea to post a link when quoting or actually copying and pasting information directly from a website as was done above.
